No, not an April Fools joke.
As of 0700Z tomorrow, April 2nd, G4 pilots will be on strike.
Things have devolved here a lot, this is a strike for the status quo. We have not yet been released by the NMB, but we won a couple of a injunction hearings last year that were supposed to force the company to follow our PWA (pilot work agreement). The company has refused to follow them after we won the injunction last July, and they still refused after the injunction was upheld in January. So it has come to this.
There will be picketing in numerous G4 bases. Please contact our Union, the Teamsters 1224 for more information though. This is because some bases like Punta Gorda, are only allowing 5 people to hold signs at the terminal at one time.
You may also see a lot of our commuters at various airports around the country trying to get home. Any well wishings are appreciated, as you can imagine we're excited, but pretty stressed.
For most of us (including myself) this is un-chartered territory.
