hello there. Im wondering if i would be able to receive a monocular vision SODA let alone an 1st or 3rd class medical. After doing some research i found that my contacts need to be a certain strength. I looked at my prescription and cannot really decipher it but heres what it is.
L BC 6.9 PWR -11.00 SC 8.2 DIA 14.5 // R BC 8.6 PWR -12.00 no SC or DIA listed on label
I have 20/25 vision in my left eye with correction 50% correct on 20/20 line but my right eye is 20/200.
With this in mind would i even qualify for a FAA monocular waiver, let alone a medical and is 1st class even an option or should i just go for a 3rd class? Also since im not color blind but i stink at reading the color blind plate test should i see if the farnsworth lantern or light gun tests are available or do i need to fail the standard colorblind test first? Thanks for your answer. Ive been waiting for the GAPA bill to go through so i wouldnt need to get a medical for PPL flying, but if I can quality for a monocular SODA then that would be great. My folks have said that my vision will never be good enough for flying but i would like to prove them wrong.
