Does anyone want to provide concrete evidence about Emirates' financials to back up your claims?

Do you have want to provide concrete evidence about Emirate's financials that it isn't so? You seem pretty sure in your dismissal of these claims. What's your proof?

I'll have to look around for that pdf file that was an audit conducted by an external non-UAE group in regards to Emirates's financials.

But ya'll are the ones making these claims so the burden of proof should be upon ya'll. I have yet to see one shred of evidence of these co-called claims. I may buy your claim for Qatar Airways and to a far lesser extent Etihad Airways, but not for Emirates.

Conveniently forgetting something Seggy?

Airline Stabilization Act

Seriously? The Act that resulted in both American and United, the carriers directly affected by 9/11, not getting any sort of government help? That's what you're holding up as your example?

Congress authorized $10 billion in assistance. The ATSB handed out only $1 billion in loan guarantees. The Act was a dismal failure, and a perfect example of how the United States government lets its flag carriers wither on the vine.

Weren't AWA and US Air the only large carriers that took ATSB funds? Sure worked out well for both of them.

Larger network carriers? US Airways had 6k pilots pre-9/11, hardly a small airline.
Delta had over 12,000. So yeah, a larger network carrier. As one friend who was a Metro Jet pilot at the time said, "You guys have more heavies just sitting in FLL than we have total in the fleet."

Jeez, revisionist history at it's best guys!!

The government handed out close to $5 billion in the form of "grants".

Check your facts Tranny. Straight from American Airlines annual report:

"Somewhat offsetting the impact of the September 11th events, the company recorded $856 million in reimbursement from the U.S. government under the Air Transportation Safety and Stabilization Act..."

From UAL Corp Annual Report:

"United has received $652 million in compensation under the act..."

other figures from airlines now rolled into UAL and DAL:

Continental Airlines grant = $417 million
Northwest Airlines grant = $461 million

Nice try, Typhoon, but that money was for direct relief of the government shutting down the entire national transportation system following the attacks. The airlines had to provide proof of the money that was lost as a direct result of that government action. It had absolutely nothing to do with the drop-off in demand that lasted for years following the attacks, for which the carriers received absolutely no assistance from the government.

Nice alternative universe you live in ATN. No facts or real truths will sway your beliefs.

I point out that is not a factually true statement and yet you still try to spin it somehow since it does not fit your ideological platform.

Full of misconceptions some of these guys above.

I personally know a couple EK guys and I have been told first-hand from them that at times they have tankered fuel from European destinations on the way back to DXB. I don't mean extra/holding/contingency fuel, I literally mean tanker. As in, fuel is cheaper at that particular outstation than it was in Dubai which is why they carried a lot on the way back to save money for the company.

It's best not to even waste your time with him. He's never wrong. Ever.

Typhoon, I'm sorry that facts aren't on your side. Must be frustrating.
