Eaglevoy new TA

I haven't been paying too close attention to the Envoy deal but.....is it safe to say if this TA passes the regional "holding the line" effort has failed?

F*** it, I have a new strategy: let's just vote in horrible contracts that pay pilots minimum wage so nobody would like to come to this industry to fly airplanes.

Oh wait, never mind

There was an effort?

I mean, the last time I checked, it was all about the "magic" turbine PIC, man.

Didn't XJT, Republic and Eagle all vote down contracts within months of each other? One crack in the armor (PSA) and the whole thing is over?

The problem is that webpages like STW had everybody convinced they were starting some kind of Regional Revolution that would bring management to their knees. It was naive from the get go and painful to watch.

The only difference between now and last year is that Envoy pilots have woken up and realized you don't win in this industry by dismantling your own airline. STW is a fairy tale group akin to a bunch of friends playing Dungeons and Dragons in their parent's basement on a Friday night. Noodle on this: Envoy pilots were told over and over by Republic, ExpressJet, and Compass pilots that to vote NO because "we stand behind you" and all that other nonsense. I bet you can guess what happened: Envoy's flying and/or aircraft then gets shifted to-drum roll-Republic, ExpressJet, and Compass. Not to mention Mesa, PSA, Piedmont...am I forgetting anybody else Envoy's flying has been piece mealed out to?

Point is that PSA wasn't the crack in the armor that made this whole thing collapse. STW and starting a tsunami at the Regional level was always just a fantasy. People need someone to blame and they turned to PSA. Envoy had the opportunity to vote in a MUCH better contract than PSA's a year ago and it was voted down because of STW fairy tales and pilot shortage delusions. I voted YES for what it's worth and attempted to have my fellow Envoy pilots see the light but to no avail. Now here we are a year later and many of our reps and pilots realize the mistake they made. So now Envoy is getting ready to vote on a contract which is slightly worse than the last but still better than most other Regional's including PSA. This time our Reps are singing a very different tune.

How can that be? How can XJT and Republic vote down contracts and then get additional flying? Weren't they told by their management's as well that they'd be too uncompetitive to gain additional flying?

Envoy pilots didn't dismantle their own airline. Doug Parker did it with PSA's help.

XJT didn't get additional flying. They're having a net loss, parking something like 90 airframes, and getting 15 in return from Eagle.

A net loss of 750 jobs isn't a win.

You think those 90 airframes were going to stick around?

As far as Eagle/XJT American sphere goes.....Both regionals voted down contracts and XJT got additional flying.

XJT is not wholly owned like Envoy is. They can vote down contract after contract and that has NOTHING to do with AA. AA negotiates a fixed cost with XJT management and how much or little profit XJT management makes is their problem. Envoy on the other hand is wholly owned. Our managers are AA managers and our profit margin is their profit margin.

Two completely different worlds, unfortunately.

That was our old management who had pretty much given up on trying to run anything when they found out that we wouldn't give them free money.

The new management seems to be more concerned with presenting a product that doesn't suck, which appears to be more effective. Even if they still plan on seeking concessions, a lot of people (myself included) would be more apt to examine it if we feel that our management is doing the best they can. Previously you see waste and lack of trying everywhere, yet they were trying to take the easy way out to cost savings.

@Skyvector, this is the issue I have with this whole thing about Eagle. It's always someone else's fault. To some, it's just PSA's fault. To other's it's ExpressJet and Republic. Did THEY vote NO for your group? You guys act like this is some sort of damn conspiracy where Doug Parker has secret meetings in the wilderness with the other pilot groups to make you vote no. How about let's try that your management is actually following through on their threats Sherlock. I LOVE how people in your pilot group think that the reason your management keeps coming back is because of the supposed pilot shortage and they "need you". The harsh truth is they got the pilot group in a corner and they hold all the cards. This is not some personal rant against you, but this kind of crap is spewed all over the net. I encourage all Eagle pilots to just vote and vote in what they believe in.

What is your problem? Show me where I EVER said it was anybody's fault? I have said over and over that Envoy did this to themselves. Seriously, you have issues man.

I remember back in March when I was advocating a YES vote for Envoy you come along and throw insults my way and called me "management". Now here you are again. Take it easy, man.
