Bono's plane suffers near-catastrophic failure

Perhaps it's a charter, there are a lot of people/bands/groups/corporations that you'd expect to have their own aircraft but for whatever reason they choose to charter instead. And then there are those that shouldn't own an airplane at all for any number of reasons.

Used to be a company down here at KTUS that ran Vickers Viscount planes for charters, and had steady customers like Rod Stewart, and a few other big names. In 1985, one of their Viscounts carrying singer Lionel Richie and company had a main gear collapse on landing at KTUS. The only onboard injuries (minor) found by responding CFR personnel were from a few ladies who had been out of their seats, unbelted, and in a compromising position at the time of the collapse.

I've heard that line a lot this week.

You know you're from the south when you read "Bono's Plane" and the first thing you think is "the BBQ guys have a plane?" Glad it all worked for them.

My first thought was "I thought he went skiing drunk and smacked a tree YEARS ago".

See, that's some old man perspective.

Yeah, travis barker and DJ-whoever survived, the DJ killed himself with heroin about a year later.
And that accident led to a series of service bulletins and an AD that likely has some LR60s grounded or flying in an unairworthy condition. Easy to spot if you know what to look for.

The only plane with brakes worse than a LR60 is a G150. Plan on 300-325 cycles. Fast, but stupid expensive.

Latest News: Bono fell off his bike and needs surgery!

(CNN) -- U2 front man Bono injured his arm in a Central Park cycling accident and now needs surgery, a statement on the band's official website said Sunday.

The statement said the band is calling off its scheduled appearances this week on NBC's "The Tonight Show."

"It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down," the statement said. "Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it."

Reps for the band could not be immediately reached for comment.

DJ AM was instrumental in the early fusion of alternative rock into EDM and a front-runner when the Electric Daisy Carnival first started to really blow-up back when it was still in Los Angeles every year. Barker followed in his foot steps and has collaborated in the production of some great tracks since. His death was a loss for the industry, and heroin addiction is one hell of a thing to deal with, especially after something traumatic.
