PEOPLExpress

You cant compare 1929 to now. Time and time again, we see these things don't work and only damage employees and tax payers.
Taxpayers damaged themselves. Next time get Allegiant.

So I'm guessing you can't answer about people express. I was just curious. Thanks for the time.

Bout as stupid as starting a hub in Monroe LA?

Or we could actually know the history of what we are trying to talk about here, and realize that Monroe LA was NOT a hub, but a headquarters. It wasn't until 1955 that Delta started the whole hub and spoke model in Atlanta.

I don't work for peoples express, but they'd mentioned they were going to hub PHF and try to focus in on PIT on an article. I thought it was easy comparison.

Wasn't Atlanta also Eastern's hub as well, back in the day?

Is people express done?

As far as anyone knows, they are trying to get investors and find a new carrier in order to make a comeback. I think they honestly want to resume service, but Vision bailed. I don't know who made the decision to end the contract, but once the plane got hit by the lav truck it was all over.

Yeah, but if they wanted to resume service they could have with another carrier. They don't have the money to do it obviously. Orange is another startup, People wants to charm Orange into doing their flying and take on some of the risk/cost of the airline. People just wants to sell tickets, or I should say that's the most the FAA will let them do. Originally they wanted the Xtra cert but the FAA blocked it because they had no idea and no plan how to run that airline. Peoples even put down earnest money.

They must have just enough money right now (or just enough line of credit) to keep on trying to attract investors, but not enough to do anything meaningful.

At least 745 will be out of PEX paint for good. No more,"excuse me sir, but...hey I have a question...hey I'm just curious but why...NO MORE QUESTIONS! lol

Sticking to charter and supplemental operations is what V2 does best. The simple sports team charter here, ICE flying there. This scheduled operations though...

If it won't make money from the get go AAY won't touch it with a ten foot pole... and if doesn't make money immediately they pull the plug. AAY doesn't do connections and we don't play well with others so we try to compete with other carriers.

One airplane getting hit by a truck folds an airline? The FAA should require a large deposit before issuing any certificates, just so they can be certain the operation isn't BS.

I tell ya, you have learned quickly my son....LOL

It's insane to me how much money governments put up to fund airlines and their competitors.

PHF already has a ton of commercial service from several airlines. There was absolutely no need for yet another operator.

But... Hub? (not pronhub)

And, if not, the Daily Press of Newport News notes that PEOPLExpress would need "to win U.S. Department of Transportation approval to operate as an 'indirect air carrier,' before it can use any planes other than Vision's … ."
This is an interesting problem when you contract out someone like People did. An insider was describing how this business model never works in an article; the airline, PEOPLEx, isn't an airline, they are just a booking agency and have no power over the flights.

Clearly PEOPLEx understood this problem but they were a complete failure when they tried to buy Xtra, so Newport News and whoever else was raising money for them, either knew it too or chose to ignore that giant problem. Apparently they weren't concerned about the money because no rational adult thinks you're going to sue your money back from a defunct carrier.
