Ameriflight

If this has been answered please don't kill me, but how commutable is Ameriflight? I am in Atlanta and close to 900 hours. Thought about applying for the FO or Trainee slot.

I doubt the Allegiant allegiance (see what I did there?) will have any real impact for anyone.

I disagree. With Ameriflight's current upgrade times and situation, it's a normal 3 year course.

You can be at one of the majors after 3 years, skipping the regionals entirely and have 1000TPIC.

The memo put out by the company states that the requirements can be waved by the chief pilot. Sounds like a recommendation with a basic foundation for an applicant to me.

The problem is that unless you are willing to live in base Allegiant isn't exactly one of the best places to be right now. Pretty sure it isn't considered a Major. It is just another LCC that is behind on work rules and pay. The didn't exactly pick a union with a stellar aviation background so I don't expect it to improve very much in the near future.

I'm not sure if it is better than a regional. Pay is more but the work rules at XJT and other places provide for a way better QOL.

Although I know the CP at AMF is good I don't expect too many exemptions from the requirements. There are still some legacy management people out there since the buyout that may not let it happen.

It would not surprise me if once you get close to 3 years all of a sudden the CP won't wave it for you and says "sorry we don't need any training captains for you airplane." All of a sudden a pilot is here 5 years before they're offered an interview, and it's just that an interview. Sounds like this allegiance is just another carrot to try to get people to stay longer than they originally intended.Sounded like we had a few people go straight to Allegiant before we had this agreement anyway.

Yup, unless you have an actual contract that outlines everything and is signed by all parties involved don't assume a move to Allegiant will actually occur. Even Union contracts with flow and preferential hiring stuff have had issues in the past.

You poor guy, you drank the Kool-Aid. There is daily proof that well qualified (for the airlines based on hours) applicants at AMF are not going to the majors. Allegiant and JetBlue don't count, and to the one guy who wen't to JB, probably had several internal recs. Nobody is going to a half way decent national carrier, major or the top 3 from AMF, hasn't happened in years, won't happen for a long long time, if ever. Don't assume that the flood gates to the majors will open to AMFers because somebody knows somebody who knows somebody who owned a cat that was friends with a guy that was hired by United 20 years ago. Instead look at the facts. Look what is competitive, look who is competitive. Do more reading on the desirable 121 companies and gain some real knowledge, not some BS that AMF spews to its new hires in indoc.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. If you meet Allegiant's requirements, you can just apply and most likely get an interview. You don't need to be a check airmen and wait 3 years. Take a look on the forums to see who is getting interviews at the airlines and you can base that on how AMF guys fair. Allegiant is a real possibility for AMF guys with a letter from the CP or not.

The thing I've wonder about is, will Allegiant still interview people outside of the program, or is this now the only path to Allegiant from AMF. Because, if they won't interview people outside of the deal, I see it as a net-negative.

Yeah, well you're drinking the hater-ade! :)

Regarding the post a couple after yours. It appears they may not be taking AMF guys outside of this. Big negative for someone like me that meats the mins and most of the competitive mins at any airline...

Well it would be a bad move for Allegiant. I turned an interview down there, I know several others who have as well, regional guys are weighing the option to go there, they are not excited about the idea, just weighing the option of going. So to limit the hiring of candidates from a company that would be a good step up is insane. The partnership letter is only going to help about 10 people out of how many? 200? If the CP can waive the requirements, why did they make it a requirement in the first place?

I'm not implying that the above is the case, just wondering if it is the case, and I doubt anyone knows for sure.
