Incidentally, our rule is "Below 500' AGL, go-around mandatory; above 500' AGL and VMC, correct configuration or flight path OR a go around is mandatory." In IMC, you're going for another lap.

Ours is 1000' and we actually have a callout for that "stable" or "unstable" (PF respond would be Go Around/Flaps), or "trending." At the 1000' mark, the gear and flaps must be final position and the airspeed is the only thing that is allowed to trend towards Vref. By latest 500' the airspeed needs to be stable at/around Vref. If trending was called at 1000' then the 500' callout is either "stable" or "unstable."
