Delta...

I held for 15 min this morning waiting for 2 to open in phog. HA 717 was gonna have none of that and snuck into 5. 4990 feet must be enough for a 717. Must be a cool plane.

It's kind of tight but we can do it without any penalties. We used to take the 717s in to LNY and MKK which are shorter than that. That said, I'm glad I fly PMs so I don't have to deal with that.

Not championing the idea or even the least bit "gleeful" but there are hot 'n heavy rumors around the school house about a shotgun marriage.

Why are they parking them? How many does that leave then? How many other wide bodies do y'all have on order?

The ones we have on property probably are on a ten year (at most plan), just wondering why Delta is parking them.

Atlantic capacity being reduced this fall which frees up 777 and 767 aircraft which will replace 747 aircraft in the Trans Pacific. Narita hub traffic being moved to Seattle which will provide direct service to cities formerly served thru Narita thus requiring smaller gauge aircraft. 10 Airbus A330-300 start arriving this fall.

They're coming for them. :D

They're getting parked because they are getting old and they aren't making money. The maintenance and operational costs greatly outweigh the revenue they generate. Southernjets has 16 747-400 aircraft. There are 10 A330's on order and there is an RFP out for more wide body aircraft. There should be some news this fall as to which aircraft we will go with.

It must be awesome working somewhere that allows logic to be used to make decisions.

The 333's don't start arriving until March/April-ish.

I'm surebthere are... Look how much cash DL built up last quarter.

Come on guys SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

First, never trust a rumor from the school house (ahem)....

Secondly, doubt the DOJ would approve it.

Thirdly, HAL really doesn't 'fit' in the Delta system. No need for a HNL base when Delta is going to be doing that flying directly from SEA.

Delta and HAL hahahahahah, id like to see that cat fight " we need fences around the 717 " !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It won't be them, as @BobDDuck pointed out to me previously. If true and not simply a schoolhouse rumor. My money and my Sizzler dinner is on Alaska, it just makes sense. Who else is out there these days and ripe for acquisition? Jetblue, Southwest, Frontier, Spirit? Alaska makes far more sense.
