SFO parking options for a commuter?

I'm not an Airline pilot but my car did stay at the Red Roof Inn for $10 a day.
Anyway, not sure if that's cheap enough but it seemed like a lot of pilots we're staying there or the hotels next door. You buy a pass from them and put it in the window if I remember correctly.

The Soviet Socialist Republics Sacramento Airport Authority will not allow discounted parking for commuting pilots unless your airline, (code share doesn't count) actually serves the airport even though the employee lot is never more than half full. I get dropped off and picked up, a lot....

It surprising how restrictive airports and airlines are with crew parking passes. Especially given how many of us commute. It just seems like it's not a fight that really produces any winners since, as you mention and I can confirm, employee lots are never full.

I think part of the problem is the TSA and their rampant need to overstaff every single airport in the country with useless, blue shirt mouth-breahters. If I time my arrival at the parking lot wrong during shift change, the lot is full. If, however, the overstuff bus of Smurfs is just arriving, within 5 minutes, the lot will be about 60% cleared out. Make them park somewhere else.

Keep in mind you can take a BART train to SFO. So you could find cheap off airport parking. When I lived in SF I walked to the BART train and wound up at SFO. It was a bit of a PITA. However I didn't need to have a car while I lived in the city.

They have a huge non used parking lot over by GA. Ive tried to get a pass there but no such luck through the airport. Long term parking is a rip off too.

Well the guy has lived in the east bay for several years. He must know about BART. If I had to guess I'd say it probably has something to do with getting from his house to a BART station. When I lived in Alameda, I was about 2 miles from a BART station; however, I sure as hell wasn't going to leave my car in that lot (I don't even think you can for more than 24 hours), the cost of a taxi would be easily $10 on top of about a $10 BART fare, or the bus which represents a huge time cost.
As much as I wanted to leave my car parked at home and take BART, the time/money cost could never be justified over just driving. And that's even in commute traffic across the Bay Bridge. It was a crappy realization to come to.
