With your permission I put that out to SHRM and, to my horror, got no sympathy. There are a lot of nonprofessionals who call themselves professionals in HR.

It's a side effect of having no shortage of qualified applicants. You can afford to treat people badly during the interview process.

Even so, what's the purpose? Wouldn't you want to represent your company well since it may be a potential future employee's first real experience there? It's even to the point at some airlines I've seen people leave saying I'm not sure if I want to work here anymore based on what I saw in the interview process, I sure hope the whole company isn't that way. Interesting thing to see at some places.

Airways knows that afternoon if you were hired. For some reason they don't like to hire into a pool, so they sit on it until they put you in a class.

Already I know several who wanted to go to Airways but also had interviews elsewhere, which were successful, and by the time Airways got around to them they already committed to another legacy. IMO it is bad for business but they will do it however they want, since they hold the cards.

Personally I am still confused with the US Airways application since I got a TBNT email but the app still shows. "In Review".

Right now they can afford to be sloppy I guess.

All I can do is continue to update my resume and hope.

No offense, but you're going to want to make sure you know who you are actually working for before you embarrass yourself if you in fact get an interview. USAir does not exist anymore. I'm sure you're probably referring to US Airways, but that's not even accurate. It's now American.

Well not actually because there are two operating certificates. I just flew with a Check Airman who has been conducting interviews. The plans are that US Airways will continue to hire until mid 2015 when the US Airways operating certificate goes away.

Just flew with a captain who went to DFW last week for the new captains class/program and he said they were told this is not true. Will just be AA hiring and new hires go to DFW and will go to either certificate depending on need.

No not yet. New hires on the US side are sent to DFW for 4 days for the whine and dine and AA ops tours. Then they go to PHX for indoc.

This started with the June 3rd class.

But Airways is still interviewing in CLT and I'm told no longer in PHX but that was just an internet rumor at this point.

I'm sure it will happen eventually but it hasn't been condensed yet.

OK so someone got an email yesterday and posted it:

Even so, we will be combining our recruiting efforts. That means, by applying to the pilot position, you may be selected to fly aircraft for either American Airlines or US Airways, although the hiring process and criteria is the same for each airline. The hiring assignment will be made by the needs of the operation, the Pilot Recruitment team and is non-negotiable. However, once we complete our integration (including a combined labor agreement), and achieve a Single Operating Certificate from the FAA, all pilots will be flying for American Airlines.

So it sounds like they are actually now hiring as a single entity but you will be assigned a side. This is a recent development as I know someone who interviewed in the past month who went to PHX for the interview.

I really, really hope there is a combined SLI ASAP so everyone can move around as they like. It will be a huge QOL improvement for the entire pilot group.

One would think, but the powers that be are only looking out for a certain faction of the pilot group and believe the geographical center of the universe is Lake Norman (recently moved from the greater Allegheny County area). Hence, they're happy staying on separate ops until the end of time (or until they all retire).

I wouldn't expect my chances to be helped, though, if I went into an interview with AirTran and referred to them as ValueJet, or with Envoy and referred to them as Eagle. It's just not who they are anymore.

Or interviewed with SWA and called them AirTran? I'll just add another log to the irony fire there.

I can't take anymore of these emails from usair regarding the changeover to American. Everytime I click on it I think it's the no thanks email and then I open it and say yes! I'm still in. Talk about an emotional roller coaster

An airline is, basically, an airline, and things are, at least in the two that I've worked for, largely common, with minor details in differences of execution, along with who, precisely, is calling the tune.

I'm a 2nd week of June interview....haven't heard anything either way yet either. From APC it looks like last guys to get called for 8/12 class were from the end of May interviews. Obviously they're quite busy with integration stuff....Fingers still crossed.
