That usually pertains to fraudulent claims. Being open about a ticket isn't that bad. This is especially true since most people have at least one.I know the military is a completely different world, but disclosing something on a form without being able to provide documentation is a quick way to get in a lot of trouble. They will hold it against you.
The general rule of thumb is to be open and honest in the airline world. Last I checked the military isn't all that big on liars and the airlines aren't either.
Pilots are thrown back to the street immediately at the regional level when the recruiters find a lie on the application. Major airlines have way more people to pick from and can certainly afford to be extremely picky like that.
