airlineapps question

Not paranoid in the least. I don't have many worries in life.
They will terminate you for the lie. Not the speeding ticket.
Again,
Ticket = no big deal
Lying = big deal

What else will you lie about when you work here is the worry.

You are completely missing my point. #1 Name one airline that does a 20 year driving history check. #2 Any company that is going to terminate you for not divulging a ticket you had 20 years ago most likely has a corporate culture that is one that needs review, and, I DON'T WANT TO WORK FOR THEM. Most companies like that are just looking for a reason. You can put whatever you'd like on your app. I know what my background looks like. I've looked at it. EVERYONE SHOULD. And I'll be damned if I'm going to put on ANY application a ticket I got when I was 18, 20 years ago. Know what your back ground check looks like, so you don't look stupid when HR comes to you and says "You want to tell us about this?"

You could just request your driving record from each state you've held a license in and divulge what is on the record - or not divulge what is not on the record and - if it comes up, say "yeah, I had a ticket in xxx, but it was xxx years ago and I can't remember the specifics". How hard does this have to be?

When I started filling out airline apps, I quickly realized I was going to need to send for a lot of my records... Received my high school and college transcripts yesterday and I paid for a copy of my driving record that is inbound. Now I'm just waiting on my official airman record from the Feds which should be at least a few weeks. My advice to anyone filling out airline apps anytime soon is to go ahead and start gathering these things ahead of time so you aren't left sitting around waiting like me.

And you have missed my point. Being honest has always worked well for me. Good luck in the job search.

You can call it dishonesty if you'd like. I call it giving what's asked of me, and nothing more. If that makes me liar, then so be it.

BTW, I'm not filling out anything on Airlineapps. I'm currently employed. But thanks for the well wishes.

Don't worry, I know AAPalm, he is a slam clicker to the highest degree!

What does this have to do with anything?

I'll answer for myself on this one. Slam clickers bore me. Live a little. Hell, on 1st year pay at a regional, I still managed to have fun on overnights. Even with half my pay going to child support AND having Sallie knock on my door for her share every month.

You can be honest without being overly detail oriented. Have you had tickets in the past? Yes, but they were more than 20 years ago and frankly, I don't remember the details. Admit the mistake(s) , but don't try to provide so many details it questions your judgment or integrity. Just my 2 cents.

It still doesn't make any sense. It's a complete non-sequitur when you consider the conversation. A low blow if you will.

Order copies of your complete driving record from each state you have ever been licensed to drive in, the NDR, and the FBI long form background check. Check your record against these and list accordingly. Nobody is going to give a rats ass about a speeding ticket from 20 years ago anyway....

Our HR person told me that if you disclose something just to be safe and they can't find it, then they cannot hold it against you.

I know the military is a completely different world, but disclosing something on a form without being able to provide documentation is a quick way to get in a lot of trouble. They will hold it against you.
