Crosswinds from Hell

Curious what you big shiny jet plane drivers do out there in the real world to practice for things like this...

With our bigger motors, E-6 is only allowed 5 degrees of roll at touchdown. Because of engine strikes back in the day, it's become part of our pilot currency sims to have two max crosswind, gusty, approaches and landings performed in the sim each quarter.

You guys do anything similar, or do y'all just wing it when it comes time to do it for real?
We do many of our landings in the box at the max demonstrated crosswind component.

It doesn't feel...quite the same, but the motions are the same. How's that sound?

I have done 25 right across in the CASA on a slick runway. Of course the wind went from 15 to 25 while I was on downwind and didnt realize it. Silly UNK.

Yes I did; not especially.

I'm the kid in the back of the room shooting spitballs.

IS THAT RECKLESS OPERATION?!?!!?111!!one!

Pretty sad that folks are forgetting that the worst thing to say in aviation is 'hey watch this'. That was the point I was making in the other thread. Just because it is borderline legal here in the states, doesn't make it safe.

The video above is pilots landing the aircraft in sporty weather conditions who are being videoed unknown to them. Completely different scenario. You probably get that, but want to poke anyway.

Looks like LGA on a Tuesday...

On a serious note, I'm very disappointed in how little crosswind correction you see guys doing. It's a wonder half those planes don't have the gear ripped off. Very poor pilots out there.

On a positive note, I'm glad to see some people exercising good judgement and going around. Never hurts to try again. Better than to have your plane being picked up in pieces.
