PA44 (Possibly from ATP) Down in GA

That sucks. I've always been surprised that ATP has been as accident free as they have been all these years. They run a huge operation with a lot of very, very new pilots and this only the third (I think?) fatal they had.

Still 3 too many.

One of the other ones, was I think? in 03, Seminole pretty much fell out of the sky over the Carolina's, best they guessed it was put into a stall spin situation, fatal. Aircraft went straight down and hit flat. One of the DPE's was an ex Army accident investigator and was asked to help out. He gave us (instructors) as very gruesome discription of the bodies. This one looks eerily similar. RIP.

I really hate this. Seeing GA (especially flight training) accidents is so frustrating because it is so difficult to determine probable cause. What do ATP students usually do on these long XC's? Are they told to practice maneuvers?

Try not to fall asleep or kill the guy you are flying with mostly. No maneuvers, at least when I did the program two years ago. It's mostly just flying IFR flights building time for commercial requirements and occasionally shifting planes between schools for maintenance.
