I give up - but one last post before Irish bedtime.... what would happen if the aircraft lost it's SATCOM - and decompressed?

We propose to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 777 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by a report of cracking in the fuselage skin underneath the satellite communication (SATCOM) antenna adapter.

I've been thinking on those lines, too.

I don't suppose that there is a maritime registry for shipwrecks? I tried googling it, but it's hard to say if there is a respected source from the perspective of people who know the sea.

There are a couple good shipwreck DBs

You found a jet... I found Jesus...

In the absence of any significant news, I'm losing interest. If I went missing over the Gulf of Sidra, I think my own family would lose interest after a week.

This is the part of the news cycle I hate.

Everyone is dying for information and the local news is trolling every so-called "expert" for information.

If the local news shows one more "a former commercial pilot from Phoenix has a startling perspective on what could have happened", I'm going to vomit.

And, of course, he's invariably selling something.

Not very many true "news" programs left on the tele over in the US

I remember my father watching CNN Headline News in the morning, it was real news not some Betty White wannabe on a TV version of OK! Magazine.

Hell, they're interviewing some of my co-workers on CNN.

They're getting desperate.

I'm gonna go down to the local news station and offer my insight. A 300hr commercial pilot with a background in "aviation related" ground work. Hell, I've flown (on) a Boeing 777 before. I'm sure the local station will hear my "theories" of what I think happened to the aircraft based on my industry experience.

Ha ;)
