Endeavor Rumor

Watch, it'll just be for new hires. Why? Because screw us, that's why.

If there were ever to be a straight flow to DL for Bendover, it would only be for new hires since DL is basically doing the hiring. There is no way they would ever let us not hired by the DL process scum fly their passengers without being properly vetted. Oh wait, I already do fly their passengers every time I go to work. Never mind. Carry on.

I'll be shocked if a true flow was ever extended to current pilots. There are people employed here that never had any kind of interview at all. Simply a phone call to show up to class with nothing other than an AirlineApps account and a fancy aviation degree.

What more the SSP is turning down 70-80% of our guys so it would be a hard sell to the Delta pilot group who (from my anecdotal polling) hates the SSP and hates the flow. So my guess is management will just wait another three or four months and make the final decision to end Endeavor with a slow wind down- but we are not Comair!

By then we should be able to get out of here. Its a job.

For a 30% probability of success (not my stats), ehh, I wouldn't make any career decisions based on a preferential interview/SSP.
I just need Delta to come out with the phrase "we really like Endeavor and want to work closer with them" this week to win the pool.

I've seen way too many scary things from the wholly oned days of Mesaba.

And yet, Delta has no problem with them flying their passengers. Apparently a fancy interview is necessary to wear a double-breasted blazer, but not to fly the very same passengers around on multi-million dollar jets.

Meanwhile all these guys not good enough for the fancy interview team are supposed to come back to Endeavor and provide one seamless level of customer service as if they were Delta employees.

Management was inthe crew room today. Quick summary from guys that were there:
Increase pay: no way
How will we hire: no idea
Co domicile: yes as soon as they negotiate it
Improve SSP: maybe
Improve benefits: maybe
Stop treating us like crap: no way
Is Delta committed to Bendeavor: yes!

Committed to a slow painful windown apparently

So, based on your assessment here, it looks like your friend is trying to get out, and is also somewhat of an anomaly with being a bit picky as to where to go to.

Thus, whatever rumors are coming from the place, aren't really keeping attrition at bay, the way I read it.

He himself said the reason he is staying put is because of the chance of the SSP applying to everyone. FOs included. Otherwise, he would have been gone. As for getting out, it is just assumed by default that anyone at a regional would have apps at the big 3. I wouldn't really call it him trying to escape. Sounds like he is hanging on a rumor for his thread of hope.

There's a difference between interviewing for a bottom barrel industry regional and a top notch legacy airline. There's also a difference in flying with short hop trips that are mostly 1-4 day trips as opposed to being stuck with someone for 8-12 hrs for a 9-12 day trip. That would make it a very long time to fly with some guy who's annoying to fly with. There is also a difference in hiring someone you know is only coming for a regional 5-10 years as opposed to a full career at a legacy of 20-35 years.

Is a Endeavor pilot the face of Delta to the customer? The customer is flying on Delta and believes right or wrong all pilots on his trip are equal.

Yes, but such is the reality of the regional industry. At one point, depending on which regional, a pilot could fly one leg as a Delta Connection, next leg as a United Express, and finish with a US Airways Express flight. But more importantly, the hiring standards of a legacy/major are far greater than a regional (most of which were hire-if-you-had-a-pulse types).

Apparently you weren't around long enough to hear all the preaching about one level of service. Management constantly talks about being Delta's regional of choice so we must mirror them exactly. That's when you start to understand how hypocritical it is to say we aren't good enough to work for actual Delta but it's ok if you stay at half the pay rate and pretend as best as you possibly can that you're just as good as Delta mainline.

You have to accept DoubleThink as your truth.

Colgan dba Continental Connection balls up airplane, Colgan holds sack of liability, not Continental.

Yes, it is different.

Only legally. To the passengers, it's not. The family doesn't even know that their family member wasn't on a CAL airplane until after their family member is dead. In the end, the airline is still allowing someone to fly their passengers even though they won't hire that same person. It's indefensible, and it's disgusting that pilots at the mainline carriers continue to defend this nonsense.

Well you do have a point I must say. I don't know what the solution is to this issue. Look at what Delta did to the Midwest pilots with the NWA merger. I don't see them offering a staple to any regional if that is a solution you are hinting at. Nor do I see a guaranteed flow via Compass. Delta was quick to kill that as well. They like controlling who they hire. I do have to admit I find it ironic that many 9E guys are getting the "don't ever interview here again" from Delta and they go back to flying Delta Connection passengers all of whom are basically Delta passengers.
