Main Purpose of the Role
The First Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe journey and a positive experience for all guests. This position will safely operate the aircraft in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies and procedures while maintaining a lasting impression of friendliness. The First Officer should be an outstanding service representative of the Virgin America brand.
**YOU WILL BE BASED IN EITHER LAX, SFO OR JFK**

Professional Experience & Certifications Required
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification
  • 2,500 hours fixed wing total time in airplanes (excluded: Helo, Sim, F/E time)
  • Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Must pass FAA mandated drug test
  • FCC Radio License
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s license
  • Current passport
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass required federal background checks and Virgin America pre-employment background checks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet e-mail functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Check Airmen or Instructor time
  • 1000 hours total time as PIC, in turbine or jet aircraft
  • Airbus A320 type rating

People are starting to get emails. Apparently there is an interview for Jan 21. More to follow. No classes scheduled yet, but probably in the March-April timeframe.

You don't need an Airbus time or type. They write "preferred" but the overwhelming majority of guys coming in do not have it. They are hard on the 2,500 hrs though (which was recently lowered from 4,000).
 
yeah, i thought their mins were a lot higher before. I'm only 2k TT...but meet everything else in the preferred....
 
I know they have about 10 guys from last year in a pool, my buddy is one of them. I got the email for an interview about two weeks ago for the 23rd of January. So, I know they are at least calling people.

Figures! As soon as I hit 4,000 hours they lower the mins! ;). Good luck everyone, seems like a fun place to work. They've always treated me like royalty when jumpseating.
 
Applied, how long has it taken you guys from the online application to interview? Currently at about 3600tt and 1100 jet (regional FO) and counting... What kind of times do the guys have that are getting a call?

I had around 5000 tt, 250 tpic. And I had a ton of inside help. But I know of guys without help. I know people as fast as 6 weeks to some as long as never. I would go to a job fair that helped many people.
 
I never received the assessment. did they send them out to those that applied, I have 3900 hours and applied right after they lowered the mins to 2500 hours, but the website asked if I had 4000 so I said no.
