Interesting. There were a ton of people that were supposed to be captains and got picked up by Hawaiian. They are getting on more aircraft and thinking about going back to Q-400s but it's been a year since I've been with them.
I have time in the ATR, and would love to fly it again but I could only do it as a DEC. Are they really going to have them up and running this time?

They have been running some what since laat year. Problem is they are breaking all the time so they are going to go with q's most likely.

In the thread title. There's another posting for SIC's I think...
Yes, I'm aware of the thread title. My question is where the OP saw this job posting for direct entry captains at Island Air. If you go to the employment page on their website, there is no listing for Captains, just 5 different one's for FOs.

Yeah, I can't help you there. I didn't look into it, and was just perusing and saw the question. Sorry about any confusion I may have caused!:(

I talked to the chief and he confirmed that hiring should begin next year. Also look for another brand and aircraft change.

They were supposed to have AC out here around now,but I've heard it won't be until January. Worth leaving my 135 Captain job for $33/hr?

Yeah, but ive got the Turbine PIC and plenty of ME time, its the 121 time and flight benefits that i dont have

I've got ~2750 TT, 1800PIC(1000turbine) and 800ME. I have 0 121 time though so I won't qualify for DEC.

That's not what 121.436 reads, but what it really does mean, I'm not sure on either.

121.436(3) "If serving as pilot in command, has 1,000 hours as second in command in operations under this part, pilot in command in operations under §91.1053(a)(2)(i) of this chapter, pilot in command in operations under §135.243(a)(1) of this chapter, or any combination thereof. For those pilots who are employed as pilot in command in part 121 operations on July 31, 2013, compliance with the requirements of this paragraph (a)(3) is not required."
135.243 Pilot in command qualifications.
(a) No certificate holder may use a person, nor may any person serve, as pilot in command in passenger-carrying operations—
(1) Of a turbojet airplane, of an airplane having a passenger-seat configuration, excluding each crewmember seat, of 10 seats or more, or of a multiengine airplane in a commuter operation as defined in part 119 of this chapter, unless that person holds an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and, if required, an appropriate type rating for that airplane.

Caravans don't qualify :-( Damn it
