Twitter IPO Tomorrow

Are you telling me the SEC is trying to stop something! The madness!!! Thanks for the link.

Unrelated to this whole twitter thing, but an interesting read regarding JP Morgan and their recent results, and where a lot of their expenses came from. http://qz.com/134534

I think there is a distinct lack of knowledge with regard to the price in this thread.

Absolutely ridiculous. Twitter is now worth more than Delta Air Lines. I have zero faith in the stock market, bitcoin, or real estate at this point.
This is how it always has worked. Just like fiat currency, an equity is only worth what we think it's worth.

Doesn't mean you can't profit from it, though.

Is it sinking in the next few days? I can't see how twitter could have the following and ad possibilities that Facebook has.

What I think Twitter has over Facebook in particular is mobile which is where we have seen things shifting the past couple of years. I've always thought of Facebook as a home application something you do on the computer (even though there are mobile apps) where twitter is a mobile, fluid social network more geared towards phone (even though it's available on computers). Should be an interesting couple of quarters to see what's going to happen.

It doesn't matter how you use it. How does the company make money? Everything else is irrelevant.

Well look what google does with emails and targeted advertising. Twitter notices you're tweeting from a new city here's a promoted tweet about a restaurant etc. Your downtown and tweeting from a bar? Here's an ad for taxi service etc. Twitter will make money off advertisements..the issue is figuring out how to make advertisements relevant for users.

If a website doesn't cost anything to use and purports to be a for-profit enterprise, you (the user of the website) are not the customer you are the commodity.

I don't doubt they will make money. Have traffic, will monetize, etc. I guess we will see how much it's actually worth over the next couple of years.
