I'm going to fly an Aeronca Champ all over the country. Where should I go? Who wants to meet up?

A little bit about myself, I'm 25 and got my Commercial License about 2 months ago. I have 275TT. I don't want to become a CFI right now, I just want to fly. I'm going to rent an Aeronca Champ with a C65, and fly it all over the place, starting next week or so, from Socal. I'm getting checked out in the airplane on Sunday, I already have a T/W endorsement.

I'd appreciate suggestions on airports to go to, and if anyone would like to meet up that would be awesome! My goal is to build 90hrs in it, and then tow gliders if I do not find anything else. I'm currently between jobs, I left a "promising" career as a technician at a BMW dealership after getting my Commercial to pursue a career in Aviation. I'm fortunate enough to have some money saved up so that I can do this. So thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice!

If you come through lower Alabama I'll take you to the Army Aviation Museum at Ft Rucker.

Like I need an excuse to go to the airport...

Stop in at WJF on the way out so you can give me a, uh, demo flight. Or on the way back you can show me pictures you've taken.

Grand Canyon airport KGCN is cool. But don't fly over the canyon on base/final like I did, or you will get in trouble. It scares the canyon squirrels, and then they don't breed. Or so I was told.

How much do I have to pay you to tag along?

Not much! But I think it'll be struggling enough with me in it, and I'm just 165lbs, plus gonna have to bring along some camping gear, food, etc. With the plane all emptied out, I can definitely offer some rides though!

I offer you room and board in Colorado. You'll need it with all th ramp fees you'll encounter.

Thank you. I wanted to do Leadville when I did my long solo x-country in a DA40, but I cheaped out and went elsewhere haha. I think the conditions would have to be pretty perfect to get the Champ in and out of there.

Nah, but you'll need to understand how lift from the mountains works. Fly it like a glider.
