Eagle "thrown under the bus"? You decide.

Aren't some regionals unable to fill classes now? The interwebs are reporting republic and silver.

What you're missing, though, is that management doesn't need all of these regionals. Half of them could be shut down, as far as they're concerned. They can get plenty of whipsaw leverage out of the remainder.

Eh. Take the flying back as far as I'm concerned.

For those of you who think there is a conflict of interest between ALPA representing multiple carriers, explain to me what that conflict of interest is, where it exists, and who it benefits.

Because if you ask mainline pilots, they'll say that national is just trying to subvert their careers so that regional pilots can take their flying. If you ask regional pilots, they'll say that national is just trying to subvert their careers so that mainline pilots can take their flying.

But nobody can ever point out the exact conflict, in a structural sense, and who it's benefiting. All they can do is complain.

So please, explain it to me like I were a five year old.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I do believe that it means something to have more than one employee group to represent. It's not a matter of National purposely holding down any particular group, but given the circumstances, what CAN National do? I think overall unity means more than representation, after you consider legal options. If you have 2 represented groups that could be whipsawed, what difference does it make who they are paying to represent them if the same matter is viewed differently by each group. IMO, it's really the representation's job to keep each group informed and on the same page. If you truly believe that each individual vote matters, then it really comes down to unity.

You just said it, what CAN national do?

Nothing.

What would national do if it was the RALPA?

Nothing.

Your local represents your interest. It'd be like saying that the UAW had a conflict of interest because they had locals with both Ford and GM.

Glad I'm not the only one. People drop em like dey be hot!

This is me:

A regional buddy:

"Isn't that an XJ flight number?"

"Who? Express Jet?"

"Are you an idiot?"

"Do you know how many gosh damned regionals there are? I don't even know the door code to my own pilot lounge, like I'm going to memorize some <expletive deleted> like that." :)

Divide and Conquer. If one seeks the overall strategy in any/all successful warfare (class or otherwise), that's it.

First they came for the jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a jew.

Then they came for the blacks,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't black.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

Ha!

And who the hell is "Mercury" on the radio? I go south of NYC and it's a whole new world of "who dat?"
