Latest Delta Rumors

Disgusting.

How that was allowed is mind boggling.

Status associated with airplanes at Southernjets is alive and well. Pay banding would simplify things so much but God forbid I don't make more than that 73 pilot. I'm a 75 driver by God.

If your negotiators think they are as good as they say they are, the company should jump on the opportunity to pay band. It saves boatloads per year on training costs as people aren't bidding different airplanes to make a couple grand more per year.

I don't even get it.

I can see angst when progress isn't happening at a pace consistent with effort, but knuckle-dragging surly? How good do those people think we have it over at a legacy?

You have no idea. For some, it's like Delta is the shining fortress on the hill, where you all work one day per month and get paid $500,000 per year.

When you say things like, "You know Delta has it's own issues too." They get their panties all in a twist and say that we aren't privileged enough to have the problems that Delta has.

I think we have a decent thing going over here, with room for improvement. But that room for improvement is damn sure not worth making yourself miserable complaining all the time.

Impressive, but your co-workers who feel that way have certainly been poppin' Molly at the L'il Wayne concert.

There is no perfect airline or anything even close.

If it involves Jet-A, Type-A personalities and gossipy middle-aged men, there's going to be a low boil of malaise.

I think overall it's a medium boil, but there are a few who are boiling over. I think once we have another union vote it will settle back down to low boil. :)

Well, tell your angry co-workers that we have a big DPA versus ALPA civil war going on.

Additionally, a cultural war between people that think we're shiny U-boat commanders with the absolute best contract on Earth against people that feel we're still working under sub-par conditions.

People who were once happy-go-lucky kool aid drinkers don't become disgruntled for no reason. The JetBlue pilots have slowly reached the point of being bitter, and it's not without justification. It's not that they think it's perfect somewhere else. It's that they know that it's better, although still not perfect.

In talking with hundreds of JetBlue pilots during the last organizing drive, it was clear that they all understood that a union isn't a panacea, and no other carrier is perfect. But they also understood that their treatment was quite subpar for a major airline, and they deserve better. Such an attitude shouldn't be discouraged.

General reaction to DPA:

It's not my fight, but it seems highly counter-productive.

"Snapback".
