I have noticed 3-5 days of growth is now a professionally acceptable look.
No. It's really not.

According to which standards? Does it really has to do with being professional or is it just to not affect the performance of the oxygen mask?
Otherwise, shave like an adult.
Grow a beard like an adult. See, others can just type differing opinions and the world moves on. Shave or don't shave, do what you have to do to stay employed.
I look at this the same way I look at the "do I need to wear a blue or charcoal suit to an interview" question: there are some employers who won't hire you or keep you employed if you don't shave, but there aren't employers who will refuse to hire you or keep you employed if you do shave. You know, unless you're looking for a job at Beard Grooming Emporium or something. So, simple decision. I can tell you without a doubt that if someone walked into my company for an interview and had two days worth of stubble on his face, he's being shown the door before the first question is asked.
Just follow what is written on the damn company manual. I get paid good money to wear a uniform and have a clean shaven face. If your company requires a week old beard, flipflops, and axe body spray, then do it or find somewhere else for employment.
Can "tall Dough" Autothrust Blue even grow a beard?!
I'd be more tempted to grow the man-beard if it didn't make me look like a cross between a teenager who hadn't shaved for months and an Orthodox Rabbi. I believe "spotty" is the apposite term.
My bad!
Yep, me too. Only shave a single day at home......the day I'm leaving for work. Otherwise, I'm letting it grow with minor touch-ups here and there as to not look like I'm homeless.
My goal on my days off is to look homeless.
You're a regional pilot. That's not a stretch.
That's like me dressing as a black airline pilot for Halloween.
