SMOOOOOOOOTHBut it's a JJJJJJJJJJJjjjjjet!
Pretty much. SSDP right?Be careful what you wish for.
Makes sense. Can't say I've ever felt anything that big moving around that adversely in strong winds, even on slippery surfaces. Not that the flight controls would do a damn thing either at that point I bet.![]()
Eh, my record in the 767 is a landing in a 35 knot crosswind. Actually was more a non-event than you'd think. Big ol' rudder (I actually landed it mostly in a crab, anyway).

Life is full of surprises. Unfortunately, they mostly suck.
You're the reason FLX 210s scared me!My record was 43 gusting 52 in a C210. It sort of "hopped" across the entire (very wide) runway before I got it stopped. I was already pooping my Pampers and made a Deal with God that I'd go be a Lawyer or something if I lived. I lived. And here I am a freaking Pilot. Human beings are the most untrustworthy scum ever. When I become a Deity, I'm going to make Us, uh, I mean Them PAY.

Are the main gear angled towards the runway on that thing like on the 73?
I meant more on the takeoff roll/taxing.Eh, my record in the 767 is a landing in a 35 knot crosswind. Actually was more a non-event than you'd think. Big ol' rudder (I actually landed it mostly in a crab, anyway).
But it's a JJJJJJJJJJJjjjjjet!
You win, sir!![]()
I did a year in Ramadi in the artillery. Getting shot at on almost a daily basis was always surreal. The novelty never wore off. What I learned in Iraq was this: I may die doing it, but I have job to do, and others are counting on me to do it well. Don't be a baby. Just focus, and do your job.Same here (not in a plane though), although I didn't freeze up it was an indescribable for lack of words type adrenaline rush. Thanks for sharing your experience with us though.

That mantra worked for me then, and works for me now in the airlines. Just do it!
By the way, somebody should start a "veteran turned pilot" thread. I bet some cool stories would surface!
I agree whole heartedly. I would not dream of doing something illegal or unsafe.I'm sorry, any maybe it's because I have no freight dog cred left, but that is the worst mantra for civilian aviation I've ever seen. Ever. You have a job to do, but I don't give 2 craps about it if it's not legal AND(this is much more important than the former) SAFE. I'm not risking myself for anything anyone anywhere puts on any airplane that needs to go anywhere.
Well.. Ya... anymore. I have done dumb crap in the past. I'm beyond it. It's dumb, and turbines are booooooring. Is that really true z987? Cause it wasn't for me. I did all kinds of stupid stuff I shouldn't have flying freight. *shrug* I'm not the guy who's doing it now, I'm the guy who has done it and wouldn't do it again. By which I mean NOW I wouldn't do it again. How are we supposed to get Pilots if there isn't some kind of Playground for them to figure out wtf they're doing? If you leave it to ERAU, no one will ever take off in more than 3 knots of crosswind and we'll all be totally safe in our homes for the rest of time. THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE FREEDOM TO ME.
Very. I've never understood the infatuation with high amounts of flight time in them. 2 hours flight time and maybe a book, and you've got it.Well.. Ya... anymore. I have done dumb crap in the past. I'm beyond it. It's dumb, and turbines are booooooring.
