The rumors of Delta interviewing all PNCL pilots is largely PNCL rumors to stave off attrition.
I think the rumors of 9E hiring by year end are coming from the same place too...

I'm thinking career progression is part of this as well. Getting stuck at a $40,000 /yr job without some sort of resume boost beyond total time doesn't sound all that appealing. Then again the legacies may not care about TPIC and such here soon. It is all just a big gamble.I believe it's trading a little bit of job security for a lot of QOL.

You mean you always wanted to work for NWAIf I can summarize my thoughts, when I was younger and had no kids it would've been a no-brainer. I would've went to the first place that hired me and never looked back. Now that I have family, I want to be around them as much as possible. There will always be uncertainty in this industry. Just look at the recent Boston terror attack. If something like that happens to an airline again, all the legacies will cut back again. I know I am of the minority, but I do actually think this Delta program will work. I'm just sick of chasing the dream by going to job fair after job fair with no results. The airline I have always wanted to work for is offering me an interview. Until they take that away I see no reason to turn it down
I never saw where he was a captain. His posts don't mention anything about that. I figured someone looking to leave would be an FO or a captain looking at downgrade. What RJ captain is making $40k/yr? A senior RJ captain is a lot closer to $100k. Career progression is great and all, but nothing beats QOL.
Delta Crew planning has said they are going to hire about 500 or less people TOTAL in 2014. 9E's union is really pumping up the SSP because they know people are bailing too quickly. NO one has been hired yet through the SSP so you have no idea if it will work as planned, how long have you been at 9E? It seems to me you need to move onto any major ASAP. The days have changed, it is back to "get your time and get out"
Family life aside, catch the first flight out of purgatory. Seriously, get out.
You have no idea if 9E will even be around in 4 years. If your going to be furlough fodder, at least do so at a major airline.
I've been gone over a year now, and there isn't a single day that I look back and wish I had done anything different.
Where exactly did the 9E union pump up the SSP? I read the last hotline on the SSP and it only said that there are still many details to work out and they didn't know yet. Also, why would they want to stave off attrition? Anybody that leaves voluntarily is just preventing an involuntary furlough later.
I do agree with your query about attrition though. Why should the union try to stave of attrition? Do they not have our best interests at heart? Don't they want to see us get out of the suck? I'm so confused why they would want me to stay!?![]()
During our focus meeting, one of the VIPs coming through was from "Colgan air" I nearly coughed up my ice tea when I saw the company name.. Turns out there's a small operator that uses the same name... Wonder how many calls they fielded post buffalo ...This.
The corpses of Independence Air, ACA, WestAir, Comair and others are giving a thumbs up from the grave.
If the name on the side of the jet doesn't clearly match the Employer box on your W-2, no matter what management says or what their capacity contract says, it can all go away tomorrow.
Was just in recurrent this week. A high ranking official of the MEC very clearly stated they believe people will begin getting interviews by end of this year.
Attrition currently has been said to be coming mostly from the senior FOs and junior CA. This is just what I picked up from what they were saying. Take it FWIW.
Sorry, I have very little faith in anything that comes out of that MEC. Been burned too many times by rumors from high ranking union officials. Most of the time it turns out to be wishful thinking for something that will help them out.....
The day the bankruptcy bonus cleared... I'd be goneI would leave immediately. Yup, like yesterday.
