I'm reading the contract now, I won't quote it bc I'm not sure if the union allows but as long as you bid a full month (no unavailable days) you get 75 hrs. The 1,000 per month take home is due to the massive increase in healthcare costs for those that have it through the company.
The thing that hurts FOs (besides the obvious) is that you don't fly that much on reserve and the list is a big secret. A lot of guys come here thinking 'well first year pay is tough, so I'll fly 90 hrs/month.' Problem is the company doesn't have to go in reverse seniority to call reserves so they'll do whatever they can so you don't break the min. The cancellations hurts because naturally a lot of those guys pick up trips to make up for the low hourly... then wham a blizzard or a mx cancellation comes and you lose 8-15 hrs in a heartbeat.
