Passengers Prefer their Pilots to be New Yorkers

I have a pretty heavy NY accent, (Long Island) half the time people think I'm from Boston, go figure.

True story: When I was DFW based, I would put on a slight Texas twang in dealing with Regional Approach, and practiced my y'all for passenger handling. "Eggle flat..."

Well that's downright insulting.

I started with Simmons Airlines, where all the guys sounded like Yoopers.

So do I though, so I fit right in. :)

California accent, eh? Dude, I didn't think we even had accents!

I don't think so either. But the words we use is what gives it away.

"So then I went 'What?' and they were all like 'Whoah!' but the 118 was slammed so I took the 210"

*Yes, I know 210 isn't an alternate for the 118

"The least trustworthy? Texans (61%) and Alabamans (58%)."

Having recently been screwed over by a bunch of pilots from Tex-ass, I agree wholeheartedly!
Well, I guess the jig is up, time to switch careers!

Seriously, I have been screwed by a few Texas pilots at my first job.

*buzzer*

You forgot to add "the" in front of those 210. Norcal scum!

Dammit! :)

Cencal scum I am. But Norcal-enough to know that no one, absolutely NO ONE uses the name "Frisco" or "Ridge Route" unless you're from out of town.

It's properly styled as "San Flowcisco."

And they never really assimilated me up in NorCal - it is still "THE" 280/680.

New Yorkers most trustwworthy? Quick, someone go tell Bernie Madoff! ;) Basically, the poll tells us that people think southern accents sound stupid, no big shock there. Thankfully, I Somehow managed not to get much of one despite living in Texas my entire life.

Or better yet, just don't make any PA's at all unless it's an emergency. Tell an F/A the flight time and the destination temperature so she/he can announce it if she/he wants. Then no one can work themselves up into a frenzy before pushback because their pilot might be a rajin' cajun or a weird looking guy from Fargo.

Me either, my accent is pretty neutral. And what's up with the Texas hate in this thread? I think you guys are just jealous. :-)
