It seems better than getting screwed up in an oscillation trying to intercept a course you flew through or the wind pushed you through.

You got vectored into terrain?I have been vectored through a final approach course into terrain. A simple ATC query fixes the problem. No need to make a difficult situation anymore difficult by banking excessively to fix someone else's mistake. Take the 5 minute delay and get a new vector onto the course.
