NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a United Express plane from western New York has blown four tires as it landed at Newark Liberty International Airport and veered off a runway.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Ron Marsico says Flight 4480 from Rochester was landing Sunday night in New Jersey when several rear tires blew. He tells the Star-Ledger that the plane veered onto a taxiway and didn't strike anything.
The plane was carrying eight passengers and five crew members. No one was hurt.
It wasn't the only mishap at the Newark airport on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, a United Airlines employee became pinned between a luggage cart and a food service truck. Marsico tells The Record that the worker was seriously hurt. It's unclear how the accident happened.

Any other info on this?

The United app shows 4480 as being a ExpressJet ERJ.

Is there any working discussion on the blown tires? FOD? Excessive touchdown sink rate? I've never flown an RJ, but it seems like you'd have to be bordering on structural/gear damage to blow all 4 mains.

A little searching...and liveatc.net makes my morning coffee taste so much better.

"And, Tower, AC, uh, 4480, uh, just spun off the runway..." [20:13]

Several go-arounds immediately after...all while the damaged aircraft attempts to taxi off the runway.

"And Tower, for AC 4480, I think we're clearing the runway, but we are definitely, uh...I think we blew some tires." [at 21:46]

Go to liveatc...then head to Newark Tower, January 21, 2013. 0100Z-0130Z. It all starts at minute 20:13.

I just read somewhere the crew said the brakes iced up causing the rupture. I cant for the life of me find the link though.

There are about three reasons you can blow all 4 tires on an RJ.

One of them isn't good for the crew, one of them is just plain bad luck, and one of them is bad for the airport.

How many tires on an RJ? 2-each main, 2-nose? Fun is being on a 747 when 2 are lost on TO and another 12 on the abort! Fuel take was punctured too from the debris.
