UPS Assistant Dispatcher

Experience requirements have been lifted, so a license and a pulse should cover you. English is considered a second language (after Appalachian) here in Kentucky, so that requirement is also a gimme. Word & Excel 97? Pulleeease! We're cutting edge with MS Office 2003. And the part about handling dispatchers request with urgency means: Go get my food....NOW!

Everything else is pretty much as advertised.

How much time do you usually have to pay your dues as an assistant dispatcher before being offered a dispatch position?

DFW Airport Hub...I filled out the app but all it gives me is the two questions and after I submit all it say is "current employee" cant go any further. Guess Ill ask HR about it tomm.

The description I see says at the Louisville, KY location.

I just started school and wish more than anything I could apply! This is one of the company's that I really want to work for. I thought about applying anyway, just for the heck of it, but it won't let me get to the application part unless I answer "Yes" on the initial 2 questions, one of which is "Do you currently posses an FAA Dispatcher Cert?". I hate to lie right off the bat.

M20B I was replying to 69beers...I already work for UPS at DFW Airport. The dispatchers are based at UPS in Louisville.

Okay...so I think Im getting the hang of this dispatchy thing...So at what point should I go ahead and begin lying on my application? Harvard Law? Astronaut? Hmmmm.... could be fun!

Actually, what I said didn't come out right. I don't think anyone should ever lie on an application and I wasn't saying I wanted to. I've heard that people say to apply to a job even if you don't meet the minimum requirements in the hopes you might still get the job. But the only way to submit an application is to answer yes on those first 2 questions. If I said Yes just to submit the application, I think that they would view that pretty much as lying. Too bad I didn't start school a few months ago! :bang:

I'm sure that non-truths are common on many applications though.

Varies, the last few only a few months. Some have been a couple years.

I would never lie on application. Exaggerate and embellish, but never lie.

I talk Thai.. I talk Thai real good... that's how i got my job.

What is the reason for the drop in five years experience and international experience?

What is the realistic chance of a regional dxer with almost two years experience getting hired or invited for an interview?

I love online job applications...

Step 1: Upload resume
Step 2: Spend the next 20 minutes re entering everything on your resume in their buggy website.

Pft, Airline Apps wanted to charge me $9 to copy all the info from my Pinnacle application to my Mesa Air one...

I believe they lifted those requirements because they were fairly unrealistic and narrowed the hiring pool too much. There are many young dispatchers who have the aptitude to work here and it seems this might be their target pool this time , but this is only my opinion since 2 of the 3 youngest dispatchers post here and really aren't that young anymore....

Does anyone know about the assistant dx pay?

I believe it's set at 74% of regular dispatcher pay - I could have the exact percentage off. UPS has one of the best dispatch pay scales in the industry, though, and SDF isn't super expensive, so you'd be doing fine even if you had to stay there as an assistant for a couple years.
