Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Anyone have any info on payscales and benefits for the Hawaii flying yet?
Or not be in business, haha. What's going on with IslandAir? I know they are getting ATR's, but are they planning to furlough or something?

I just talked to someone who works there that said it is a rumor starting to go around there. I would be interested in doing some HI flying for a year or two!
Hawaiian bought ATR's and is looking for non-union pilots to fly them.In the 402s or ATRs? Either way, I have a feeling it'll go very senior. Will be interesting to see what happens.
I'm not sure how Cape Air is connected to everything then. The Cape Air pilot group is unionized under the Teamsters.Hawaiian bought ATR's and is looking for non-union pilots to fly them.
Just curious, how does the CoL in Hawaii compare to Guam and the US/British Virgin Islands? Cape Air operates out of expensive locations without too much trouble recruiting. Although you might be right about trends changing in the future.Maybe senior for CA, but NOT for FOs...Cost of living in Hawaii is ridiculous, and unless they are able to recruit locally I think it will be difficult to get people from the mainland to come over there if they can get on with Eagle, Republic, Expressjet, etc...just a theory...
I know, Hawaiian said that was their goal though.I'm not sure how Cape Air is connected to everything then. The Cape Air pilot group is unionized under the Teamsters.
It is a nice mix of island life with the comforts of the mainland. The biggest issue I have with Hawaii is the ridiculous income tax and excise tax. Cost of living really isn't that high. I am able to support two households on first year income and a little King Air flying on the side.Just curious, how does the CoL in Hawaii compare to Guam and the US/British Virgin Islands? I lived on an island where a beer is 5 USDs, toast bread 4 USDs, a BLT 15 USDs.....but there are expats pilots that do just fine on 1800 $/month wages
That's how much it costs on the mainland too
I did a price comparison on stuff and most everything is fairly close to mainland prices. I would say about 5-10% higher are some of the perishable items. Costco usually has items for the same price or even cheaper. The only thing I could think of is that they are cheaper because they come from China or Japan on their way over to the mainland.
