Is this fairly typical at 9E? #Sandy

At Colgan we were given memos about what Continental or Uniteds plans were for the most part when a hurricane was coming. I cant see anything about what Delta plans to do with us out of JFK and the north east. Is this fairly typical to be left in the blind here? I know we declared IROP, but the company also declared IROP when the printers broke or something last week.

At XJT we haven't historically gotten exact details, and maybe those don't exist. It may be a wait-and-see situation.

On management's side, maybe it's better not to disseminate information that could lead to people not showing up for work. If they say they think flights will be cancelled through Thursday, and then there ARE flights Thursday...forget it. "THEY SAID WE WEREN'T FLYING THURSDAY!!"

I seem to remember United flat out saying "all flights out of IAH will be canceled starting at such and such time on this date until the morning."

Delta reservations was trying to rebook me on a flight into LGA for tomorrow - I think they were smoking crack. Like anyone will be showing up for work ????

Yeah, I'm so screwed with this storm. Supposed to head home on Thursday, through JFK and connecting on PCL. Delta has no way to get me around JFK, as of this morning. I've been trying every day for the last 4 days. Ugh...I'll be home in a week, I hope.

Edit: "full fare" tickets, not working...just trying to get home at the end of rotation.

If you haven't realized by now the only thing anyone in SOC does is put out fires. There is not one single proactive thing done down there. It's a miracle we have releases when we get to the plane. Even then they're usually messed up like my 6,000ft cruising altitude for a 400 mi flight last night.

Short answer... They can't disseminate the plan that doesn't exist.

Part of the problem is I'm not sure Delta knows what they plan on doing. I've been notifying scheduling of cancelations on my schedule using Flight Aware. Every case, I've known before they did. When pinnacle hits an IROP SOC doesn't resemble a cool, collected department that inspires confidence. It looks and sounds more like the passengers freaking out in the movie Airplane.

Complete with a topless woman running around?

Have you seen our crew schedulers? Dear god, no. No topless women in our SOC. Well, except for one dispatcher.

Our company had me scheduled to DH to JFK on Sunday night. I called them and said "Are you SURE you want me to do that?" Basically, I a) didn't want to pay for a hotel room that night anyway and b) didn't want to wind up sleeping in the airport until next Monday. My cunning plan worked. They sent me to CVG instead.

Wow. jetBlue isn't even letting people book on the jumpseat right now. Called scheduling, and they're positive spacing me from MCO-JFK in the morning. Yes, we've hit desperation mode when they're actually doing that. Now, we'll see if they positive space me home. The nice lady at jetBlue said they likely won't be accepting jumpseaters until around Sunday. She even checked with a supervisor for me. Brother HAS to be back in MCO by Wednesday for the new gig.....

I had to call out sick. But they had me (for OE) deadheading IAD-DTW-JFK, overnighting in JFK then actually flying JFK-BWI-JFK then deadheading back to IAD. No hotel scheduled in JFK and the only deadhead that I was listed for was IAD-DTW. The DTW-JFK are all oversold and 2 out of 4 have been flat out cancelled.

Are they positive spacing you to MCO to start class? How do they expect you to get there?

Dude, what are you doing even considering coming up to work during this fiasco. Sickcation to end your time here.

Do any of you Pinnacle guys/gals know if DL 3535 is running tomorrow (1 Nov)? It actually is sounding like I'll at least, maybe, get to JFK, but I think the domestic stuff is very limited...I could see them cancelling a JFK-JAX direct flight instead of some other higher priority flights. Thanks to anybody who knows.

And, yeah, Kellwolf, why are you working your last week???

Dude, we get our information from the airport screens. We generally have very little extra inside scoop over the passengers. Only time we get advanced information is if we're on the phone with SOC and they tell us they're going to change something the second before they put it in the computer.
