It's supply and demand, simple as that. But I would think being a well qualified Captain, with check airmen and other things, safety, training etc...the type of aircraft you flew would mean less. I would say this, if you have to opportunity to do something else, while you are swinging gear, do it. I have been stuck as an F/O for a long time, but I am in my safety department and have worked on various projects. It shows leadership, desire and commitment, more then waiting for the left seat. There are a ton of Jet Captains out there, but if you have other things, I would say it would eliminate the jet issue.
