Up to 425 new aircraft for NetJets?

Guy walks up to me at the counter at Signature SFO. Flex pilot. Says "so I hear you guys are buying us." my reaction was sort of a cross between Bevis or Butthead, "um".

Tells me about furloughs at flex. Sounds bad, apparently it goes all the way bad to 2007 hire dates.

So yeah while I feel bad for those guys it doesn't help to confront competitors line pilots at FBOs. Just an FYI of how not to network.

Hopefully management at all operations will stop using the fail, rinse, wash and repeat model of the airlines and we can all go on with our lives.

Gotcha. Thought it was in the article.

Back on topic:
Challenger 300, great choice
Challenger 605, meh...alright I guess
Citation Latitude, betting the farm on something that isn't even flying yet?

What it ALSO means is that FlexJet and Citation Air are done. Recalls at NJA, furloughs or layoffs at the other two. Not that great a deal.

And the man in the article is walking in front of a Gulfstream, not a Challenger 850

Last I heard NJ is recalling, and it supposed to pick up in 2013. 30 pilots have already said they're not coming back.

Citation Air is parking a whole lot of planes.

Agreed. I'd be curious to see the ratio of 300's to 605's in the firm order. Bombardier is pricing 605's insanely competitive, but the reality of the situation is that the 300 is significantly cheaper over the long-run.

The firm order is for 75 300's (with 125 options), and 25 605's (with 50 options). Unfortunately this order is for the Netjets Worldwide fleet (including Europe, and possibly China), so while it is good news to see some desperately needed replacement aircraft, it doesn't necessarily mean any growth.

To my knowledge, this is unfortunately not true. We haven't brought anyone back from the original furlough, and our number of aircraft in the fleet continues to decline. It seems like the projected recall date for our guys & gals on the street is always "2 - 3 years", and the recent order, while good news, won't really change that. I wish things were a little more rosy here at Netjets, but the fractional business is still trying to find it's way, with more bumps to come.

Ah gotcha, I was passing along second hand information from a furloughed NetJet pilot and a current one.
