Banner tow Rocket C-150

Looks like a successful ditch.

Wonder if he avoided land to avoid injuring anyone on the ground? You can land a C-150 damn near on a dime.

Either way, two guys walk away, airplane gets replaced. Good job to them both.

It's too bad they weren't a little bit further north, as they probably could have glided into NZY or SAN. But glad it ended well.

In my limited banner tow experience, passengers are not allowed. At least they're alright.

Its good that they walked away. Looked like a pretty solid hit when it went in. I like the people saying they thought it was staged and done one purpose, because that's a great place to land a plane right?

Is 2 pilots normal for banner towing? Seems like keeping the weight down would be important in a 152. Maybe getting checked out for a job?

Gotta get that SES time somehow

New nickname: "Sully".
Unless there was some training going on, I imagine someone is going to get spanked for having a passenger.

Working for a banner tow op in the south east the FSDO made it very clear to us that during banner-in-tow operations, there were to be no passengers - however you could have a pilot in training on board. Although if they were pulling a banner for an event it sounds a bit bizarre to be training someone, I don't know much about C150's but I'm sure the added weight prob didn't help!

I like how the one guy is wearing a G650 hat and clearly knows nothing about aviation.

I noticed that too. I bet he made sure to put that on for the interview.

What regulation did they reference for this? I see nothing in CFR 91 that limits passengers during banner tow operations, nor in the Advisory Circular about information for banner tow operators.

Is this something that is specified when they issue the waiver? I still do not understand why a banner tow operation even needs a waiver. The only theory I've ever had but has not been confirmed is that a waiver is required because of 91.119 and since a pickup/drop is below the minimum safe altitude numbers, but a landing is not being performed, then a waiver is required. Houston?
