We are looking for a pilot to fly a Bonanza A-36 and a Mooney M-20 for a small Part 135 charter. We fly
out of 5T6 in El Paso Texas and occasionally fly into Mexico. Minimum requirements are 700 total time
with 100 hour of retract time. Bonanza time is a plus.

How does one qualify for 135 with less than 1200 hours? I have been flying abroad for the last number of years and may have missed some regulatory changes in the USA.

How many hours a year could a pilot expect, meaning full time or part time, on call etc? What is payscale like?

I have no idea who is hiring for this position (though if told their names I probably know them), and am not connected with them in any way. Some observations about El Paso.
1. No, it's not the end of the world. But you can see the end of the world from the top of the Franklin Mountains.
2. Seriously, very safe place to live. You can walk down the roughest part of town in the middle of the night and not worry about being attacked. Murders and rapes are very rare. Property crimes are more common, but usually they avoid people. Even the prison is sedate compared to others. One of those reality shows came to town to film the prison thinking it would be like Juarez. After two weeks they gave up and left- it was too boring.
3. Cost of living is very low. Look at how much an apartment costs in the area before sneering at any pay rates.
4. El Paso is the kind of place where, if you get a good reputation, people will come to you for flying. If you are a good CFII you will have pilots lining up to fly with you when you are not required to work (if they let you teach on the side). If you get a bad reputation in El Paso... well... good luck.
5. A great place for those who like the outdoors. Camping, hiking, even skiing is not far away. Big Bend, mountains of New Mexico, Taos, Santa Fe... all an easy drive/flight.
6. Yeah, it's hot in the summer, but it's not nearly as bad as Phoenix due to the high altitude. As soon as the sun hits the mountains the temperatures drop a good 20 degrees.

Anyone know who this company is? I've checked around the airport, can't find anyone flying a bonanza or mooney... I've pm'd the guy who started this thread but heard nothing. I'd love to start making my way back west!

Try to do some digging with this website - http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/

I can't tell you the amount of phone numbers of people I've wanted to contact I've been able to come up with through that.

When I left El Paso last year there was no such operation nor was there talk of one- so it would have to be new.

Contact the Cutter Aviation front desk in El Paso for the guys number. I was passing through and met they guy who posted this, he left his name and number with the front desk. Said the job would pay 30,000/yr.

Where can I send my resume? I love the Bonanza, have over 1,400 TT, and am checked out in the A-36.

ELP isn't too bad of a place to live and the cost of living is really cheap. I miss going out to the sand dunes east of the city.
