Retro 737-900

This one's pretty spiffy:

The PSA one US did is/was nice too.

Air Canada, Alaska, Aloha, American, Continental, Delta, Mexicana, Southwest, US Airways, and World Airways are all North American carriers that have done Retrojets.

:)

Dont forget United, I love it, wish it was on a -400 or a 757. Or really the whole fleet! Much better than the ugly unicon globe, ugliest livery ever!

I really like the retro schemes airlines are doing, Alitalia rolled one out recently that looks superb, and the UA A320 with the seventies red white and blue "stars and bars" is outstanding. They should paint the whole fleet like that.

United brought that A320 in to MDH last year for a career day. We are having another one next weekend and I think they might be bringing it back again.

This thread looks like a page from Airlines.net.

Can a crew bid a specific aircraft? How would it work if a crew member wanted to fly one of the retro liveries?

ATN_Pilot, Delta has already done it. ;) Along with a '96 Atlanta Olympics special livery, N102DA wore this livery for Delta's 75th:

Then was painted back into the Widget scheme to be retired after the fleet had gone Wavy Gravy.

Keep in mind it had been re-painted into the newest Delta Livery prior to Delta's 75th anniversary and the first of it's two retro liveries, so this was really a Widget retrojet.

:)
I really liked the Wavy Gravy Spirit paintjob. Actually, I really liked Wavy Gravy in general. Nothing compares to the Widget.

Just saw this plane pull up to my gate to take me home. Pretty cool lookin airplane.
It's a FLUF, where the "L" stands for "Long" not "Little"!

They're no longer a viable airline in my book...They got rid of the A300's I used to take down to PR as a kid. Most of my early aviation memories were in AA A300s (My first was in a TWA 747-100), who cares if the planes made no financial sense....We're talking memories here :)
Ehh...yeah. The real problem with the 300 is the TFOA problem. The airplane wasn't engineered to last.

As far as an airplane that lasted, that was built to last and far surpassed anyone's expectations...If you want to miss an airplane, miss the Boeing 727. See:

Farewell to the T-Tailed Tigress - Delta and the 727: proud partners for over 30 years.

Or, looking fabulous in beer-can paint:

It's the ooooonly way to fly!

Nothing looks better in the Delta Widget than the L-1011 TriStar:

Although the Eastern 757 was one hell of a classy lookin aircraft:

If Delta was to do a "retro Widget", I think the 777 should get the honor of wearing it...pretty sharp lookin to me:

and for @OrangeAnchor...the Piedmont Airlines 737-200.

I'm too young to remember the days of yore, but I do remember Delta L1011s. TWA 757s were always my favorite as a kid. Get on that American!

TWA had a tie for second best L-1011 livery...with British Airways in the Landor scheme. The last TWA livery on the L-1011 is stunning to say the least:
