JetBlue captain subdued after pounding on cockpit

Shouldn't be gone forever. We have people with all sorts of self-admitted mental ailments posting in the flight surgeon forum about successful progress in getting their medicals eventually.
For a minute, I thought you were going to say "posting on this forum". LMAO

A fox article mentions the guy was a standards captain, would that imply there were two others in the cockpit? I'm not sure of the duties of a 121 standards capt

Does stan/eval type checkride work. But probably flies the line on normal flights as well, Id think. Others would know better.

Oh there's a user or two that I'd have reservations on being in the back of their airplane on a dark and stormy night... OOOOOOO yes.

I think what's even worse is how we see mental health in America.

Now if he had a heart attack in flight, recovered and there wasn't any heavy dystrophy, he'd be back flying in another year or so.

But since it's not his heart and it's his "head", so to speak, it's most likely "Game Over", permanently.

Plus, as pilots, mental pathologies are generally the career "kiss of death", even those that are temporary and treatable.

Sad story, I've spoken with the Capt plenty of times over the phone, really nice and fun guy. Hopefully this blows over with the media quickly for him and his families sake.

Poor guy. Hopefully it was just a big misunderstanding or something that is easily fixable. Can't help but feel bad for the guy as you can't tell me that things aren't completely normal. :-(

Interesting stuff. I feel bad for the guy if it was something simple that triggered the episode. Hopefully more will come about in the next few days.

... And the FO saves the day. Takes command when his skipper loses his nut.

... like I've been saying any FO should be able to.. For years.

Good on this guy. Get the Captain some help. Life goes on.

1500 rule, anyone?
