Trans States runway over-run. Again.

I made Charlie 6 (last right turn off of 27) once in a 767 coming in from Kona. We were probably really light. I knew somebody was behind us close but really wasn't trying that hard. I remember planting it pretty good (again, wasn't trying to) and got on the brakes a bit when I saw that right turn was possible. The ground controller was pretty impressed. I didn't think it was that big of a deal...

At JB they would like us to use no TRs. Comes down to the almighty $. Most places we land it's not an issue as far as runway length. During my OE on the bus, check airman wanted me to use TRs to show how effective they were. Landed 31L at JFK and made MB with no problems.

We spool most of the time. Landed a 767 the other day at about 300,000 lbs on an 8000' runway. Brakes 2, spooled reverse, had to taxi a ways to the end. As the other guy said, 8 sets of brakes does the trick.

The jet in Moline was number two to land behind us (about 10NM in trail) the day of the incident. WX was beyond gorgeous and they ended up a longggg way down the runway before they veered off. It's going to be interesting to hear what the actual cause was.
Correction: it stopped a long way down the Rwy. It exited the rwy about 2000 ft down. Full rudder and max diff braking wasn't enough. Even w the steering disengaged they still had too much momentum to stay on the narrow runway. Don't ask how I know... It was quick, violent, and it sucked

Wow, that had to be a HORRIBLE feeling of helplessness. Glad that nothing too bad happened though.

On a side note, when ATC cleared us number one to land in front of the 145, I did tell ATC we'd hold back and let the jet in first if need be. ATC said the separation was good and we continued. Had they taken us up on the that offer, we would have been waiting for a long time at another airport for Moline to reopen.
