Lates letter from the CEO of PNCL

Hopefully this will stop all the 9E/9L/XJ fight between us, and bring us together around a common goal of finally making the upper management at this company take some responsibility for their HORRENDOUS business decisions. If they need cash that bad, I know a few guys in eastern TN that could give back some money, CS, PT, and DS!!!

I also like how he talks about the mood even in HQ is that the situation is improving and he immediately shoots that down by talking about CH11. He sounds like a broken record with his scare tactics

I honestly think he is not trying to scare us. I think we are that close to ch11. But I could be wrong.

I believe that we are close to CH11, but I find it very odd that a CEO likes to openly talk about going into CH11. Usually CEOs deny, deny, deny then one day POOF! They file...

If a new agreement is made with United then I think any further talk is simply scare tactics to try to get our wages. I really wish we could see some numbers in terms of dollar savings made from the agreement the union and company came to regarding the realignments and seniority list.

Wouldn't you do the same if you were a CEO and you wanted wage concessions? Especially after the two positive announcements that were recently made.

How good does his resume look if he makes it look like we're on the verge ok BK and he miraculously pulls us out of it.

They posted the job opening again for IAD base manager. They had interviewed for it previously last year, then did away with the position. Now suddenly it's back. I find that very interesting....

This is exactly what I am thinking. He wants everyone in fear mode until he can say, "Look at me! I'm a genius!"

I also think that they're delaying the 4Q report as part of negotiating capital. I mean if it actually is a huge loss so what? AMR shamelessly reported gigantic quarterly losses all the time up until the day they filed.

I would say that if he can right this ship then kudos to him, but don't do it off the backs of labor.

Yeah, Basically I think the united agreement holds far far more weight than our contract negotiations. If we dont get a new united agreement we are going to chapter 11, I am guessing that is pretty much for sure. If we do get a new agreement we will be profitable....so explain again to me (mr. menke) why we need pay cuts?

You would think that they would attempt to negotiate with Unical to get enough money to pay everyone what they've already agreed to pay them. You would think..

My biggest beef is we were talking temporary (or they made it seem that way) wage cuts to give them some breathing room. Now, they're saying the cuts "must be permanent." Well, sounds to me like they need to re-do the operation, then. If all the labor groups have to go back to wages from 13-14 years ago (which is where a 5% pay cut would put most of the pilots AND the FAs), then we should just close our doors. ExpressJet, Skywest, Republic and everyone else seem to be able to do okay with wages above that level. If we're the only ones that can't, we're broken beyond repair, and wage concessions wouldn't have kept us out of CH 11 anyway.

If they wanted to unite all three pilot groups against management on the issue, I'd say they're doing an excellent job.

we're singin from the same sheet of music brother. They are asking for donations to fund their errors.

No wage concessions. end of proposal.

I could't believe how negative that email was, it was set to promote fear amongst the groups. The fact that he linked an article about the destruction of the regionl industry is laughable, and screamed of Chicken Little; "Look, the sky is falling for regional airlines, the sky is falling!!"

It's getting to the point of ridiculous and insulting, building up doom and gloom to drive the majority of your employees further down the poverty line, and the other just above it.

Why can't letters like these be posted on all the UND / ATP & pals' websites? "not every classroom needs a room number" paired up with "Collapse of the US regional airline industry a real concern" and "five percent pay cuts must be permanent." I guess some of us have simply been "cleared to dream."

Why the obsession with wanting to run to the flight schools to whine about their problems? Paying it backwards. This is one thing I don't like about the industry. Mainline pilots blame regional pilots for the RJs darkening the skies, then regional pilots blame CFIs for having "SJS" and accepting the same 20k job they accepted couple years earlier.

At the end of 2012 we will begin to see what the flight schools and Kit Darby have been preaching about

Non sequitir. Who is blaming CFIs???! Cripes, I will shake their hands...someone going out and getting real experience. I would say the glossy advertisements to justify extreme costs were more in my crosshairs...

Slight oversimplification.

Some of us are actively trying to, while not being completely negative, but realistic and trying to help the next generation from having to 're-invent the (logic) wheel' and are met with much consternation.

It's the classic saying of "bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink".

The problem is scope. Pure and simple. When you don't own the flying you're doing, you will face competitive pressures to keep costs low. But merely by saying "scope", you're going to upset those that are performing the subcontracted work. If I said, strongly, that "only Delta pilots on the Delta seniority list shall do Delta flying - end of story", how much hate mail do you think I would receive in my email box by monday morning? Loads.

Been there, done that.

When you do not "own" the flying, you have no negotiating leverage.

More simply put, you can have all of the guns, ammunition and sentry guns in your home, but unless you're able to perform something as simple as locking your front door, it's just a matter of time before your security is breached.
