The difference is that JetBlue was actually making money almost immediately. And they didn't even struggle following 9/11. Virgin, on the other hand, is a like a flying money incinerator.
The only caution I have is that unless you plan on staying at VA for as long as they last, that PIC is something you're going to want to have, for the most part.
Take this from a guy with 13 or 14,000 hours that, if I was looking for alternate employment, that I have nowhere near the PIC requirements of other carriers up the food chain.
I've rode on Virgin twice as a non-rev. Very impressive product. People are nice. Planes are nice. Free IFE. Fares are comparable. How long did it take Jet Blue to make money? If I had a shot at them vs an Allegiant, a Kalitta, or a USA jet, ect...I'd go for it.

Well, I thought Express Jet was a great product as well, and they didn't make it. Hope your wrong Todd.
However, your branded operation is not...which is what I'm sure he's referring to...I can assure you that I am still very much employed...again...after some unpaid time off.

I know, but the company is still around under the same name, and some n00b is going to read it and say, "ZOMG! NO! NO! THAT CAN'T BE! I HAVE A FRIEND WHO'S STARTING CLASS THERE NEXT WEEK! HE WAS GOING TO GET ME A JOB! ZOMG! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'RE GOING TO FUUURRRRLLLLOOOOUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!"
Sounds far fetched I know, but it happens.
VA is a very nice product. I would love to work there. I heard they dont have a commuter policy and they are not very friendly with missing a trip due to commuting issues? Any info?
They're "red wood".
Always happy to entertain.Quick, subtle and hilarious.
