Unless it's a tiny regional airport, that would usually end up with no directs at all!Bottom line, all you can do is ask. It's like asking for direct. Heck I treat it like a negotiation...ask for direct to the airport, even if they don't give it to you, they will give you something and at least it gets them thinking you want short cuts.
