Aerial Mapping Pilots Needed

@ floridabeachbum read your posts in the Air America threads and this one as well. Just curious to know what kind of times you have if you care sharing.

I am new to the site looking for a gig like this. I have 425 TT with around 170 ME, to you guys out there who currently do Aerial Mapping, are those hours considered "good enough"? Also live fairly close to KC as of right now.....within 3 hours. This job is of much interest to me, is it too late? Thanks for any info guys! Cheers
It's never too late as we have pretty regular turnover due to people leaving for regionals and whatnot. However, 425 is not good enough as insurance requires 500TT as a minimum.

this may have already been asked and if so, sorry. But, are these jobs year round or seasonal. If seasonal, when do they usually start and stop. Also, when you start your days off, are you airlined back to KC for your days off?
thanks

Winter months typically involve a certain degree of loafing in..."interesting" locales, but you're still working.

I take it you don't like the south? And, did you even get a winter under your belt at Aperture, just wondering?

Our airplanes were all stood down, so not especially.

I'm DFW based and have no particular issue with the South, in fact. Or the Midwest neither. But what does annoy me is going somewhere to sit for protracted (multi-day) periods. When I'm working I want to work, you know?

Just because you're based there doesn't mean you have to like where you're living! ;-} I completely understand about sitting around waiting for good weather to shoot pics, but, it is what it is and that's why it's salaried. Btw, I don't think I had a chance to tell you congrats on the new gig, so.....CONGRATS!

Thanks :)

And it's still a pretty good gig. I never thought I would get to go to, say, Allentown, PA and Peoria, IL.

Thanks :)

Allentown isn't so bad, just go to the Sands casino on your down time. Peoria, on the other hand...

I also would never have found myself in let's say Las Cruces, NM, Sheboygan, WI, or Dublin, GA. Some are nice, some not so much

Not gunna lie.. once I read Chino.. the smell immediately hit me again. Gross!!!

(Robert Duval voice) I love the smell of fresh Chino in the morning! :sarcasm:

(for those that don't know, imagine 50 sq miles of hot, fermenting cow poop baking in the sun with 100 flies per square yard of air space)

And, somehow, the FBO smelt worse than outside... never understood that.

I did see some cool places though that I otherwise would never have had a reason to visit. Overall, a good job, despite all the idleness and lack of career advancement.

Just interviewed today with AAK, was offered and accepted the job! Seems like an awesome company to fly for. Looking forward to it! Anyone have any tips/comments in regards to training?

Join Holiday Inn Express Priotity Club, SWA Rewards, and download their apps.

So obviously Holiday Inn and SWA are used extensively for travel, what other hotels and airlines are commonly used by AAK? Making sure I get signed up for all the reward stuff early! :)

Sign up for all/any of them. You never know when you might just use something else. Also pay attention to the hotel promotions that you can sign up for to get double points and what not.
