SkyWest Hiring FOs

It was a great meet and greet. An awesome half hour presentation on the company followed up by individual one on one interviews. The interview covered details of your resume and a Q and A over the standard HR questions. They covered DUI's, FAA enforcement actions etc. nothing technical. I have over 3K hours, so the interviews may have been different for those with less flight time. Like I had mentioned earlier there were a lot of applicants to get through.

Great - thanks so much, Pilot98! Best of luck to you!!!

Looking at SkyWest's website, looks like they have more recruiting events scheduled. Can anyone just show up to these? Also, what is the dress code?

Doug, I like your style there. It's like one of the last guys to send me their resume full of typos and spelling errors asking me to walk it into the Chief Pilot.

If you have to ask what the airline interview/job fair dress code is you're probably not ready for professional aviation ;-)

Well, truth be told it's a legit question. BUT, it's a competitive environment so I would dress accordingly. Any Tom, Dick or Harry ought to know that already!

Business casual at an absolute bare minimum, no matter what anyone says about "T shirts and jeans ok".

How you present yourself is going to be the first indication if you're going to represent the company well when you strap on their uniform.

Don't even get me started on poorly-written resumes. There's no quicker way of saying "I fail to pay attention to details" quicker than a sloppy resume.

Two-arm: Yes
One-arm: No
Men's European Carry-all: Only if it was a gift.

Well I am some what torn... does anyone know how the commute would be from Spokane to the current junior jet bases? I have a great internal rec and went to the job fair back in SLC, but I have been a little shy on going back for the interview and leaving my current gig. Are the regionals really worth it in the long run? I have an easy job right now making around 50k/year, logging ME Turbine PIC, and being home every night. The bad thing about my current job is that there is really no room for advancement.

advancement is to the next level...forget the regionals. I made captain at OO the money was the same....so just go somewhere were you can get to the higher dough...

As a newhire at SkyWest, commuting to a junior jet base has been a big pain. Going to sit reserve as a commuter, I am losing 4 to 5 nights a month at home. I knew that it would not be easy, so I am not complaining. Good luck with your decision.

I have no inside knowledge about Skywest but if I had to guess the reason they are not calling is if the CRJ and EMB classes for October are full, then there is no rush to interview if the next class is not till November?

I got moved up to the Oct 3rd class date... It looks like they're still actively interviewing.

Welcome to the airline business! :) Doesn't change a heck of a lot up the food chain.

Best thing to do is play around with passrider.com and see what's available from your hometown to MSP, ORD, and IAH.

I hear ya. I'm thinking its wise to stick where I'm at. I need to finish my degree anyways!

Does anyone know if Skywest will lower the minimums anytime in the near future? I only have 525TT and 139 ME.

Go back a page or 2 and read. This has been asked a few times recently. Short answer is no. Seems they are very strict on their mins and will not budge on lowering them for sometime.
