United q400 RFP

Forgive my ignorance but are we talking the artist formerly known as SureJet or Pinnacle? Cuz both have a ton of old RJ's on hand. I'll get my head out of the sand eventually.

Well, to my knowledge...Pinnacle* doesn't operate any United Express flying at this time...

*Pinnacle, Pinnacle...not Colgan.

Hmm...funny how one company's recent CPA with United/Continental allows for replacement of larger turbo-prop aircraft as old small jets die off...

I may have misread but I remember it being up to 75 large RJ replacing 50 seaters one for one pending merged airline's scope clause.

Hmm...perhaps...been wrong before. I don't recall it specifying that they would be jet replacements though.

I've heard that UAL wants to diversity it's Q feed...I think the SURE parent company should work hard at getting at SLC/ATL/IAH. If the union was smart we'd offer low rates, make it competitive just to get the aircraft on property. Then we'll work on bringing rates up. That's the way to grow. Sad but true, get the ac here first, then worry about the pay.

Hehe, aim high hu?

I'm not sure there's a point to aim high initially. Get the aircraft on property, get movement, that'll make everyone happy...then work on pay. Stagnation is the worst evil at a regional, followed by low pay. Riddle me this, why were people going to lower paying regionals with movement and turning their noses up at places like Eagle which were stagnant?

Eh, as long as you understand you risk never getting that pay rate up. Ask Colgan (not that the pilot group had any plan to get paid crap and get tons of planes), they were no where near getting a contract of any value, and that wasn't changing any time soon. The best thing that happened to them (from a contract standpoint) was Pinnacle buying Mesaba. Wait a tick- Go ahead with your plan and then buy us. This is a sinking ship and you'll get us on the cheap, and all the contract guys are still here. Shush, let's keep this on the down low!

I find it hysterical we are speculating on RFP's for Regionals, yet none of us have ever seen a RFP, could get a copy of one if we wanted to, or could be privy to the negotiations surrounding them.

Doesn't work too well. We played that game with our 700s years ago and we are still stuck with this lame override deal. Not falling for that one again (technically it was before my time, but you get my point). Sad thing is, a lot of people probably will.

I would believe that, but I think pinnacle Inc holds the options for the next 30 or so that would be delivered stateside. I doubt the boys in men would let those go cheap right now.

Which is why we'd get the latest and greatest ATR back on property. Both sides of SUREJET having a history with the aircraft. As far as the Q, why would Bombardier put themselves in that corner with Colgan? Sure it's possible, it just seems like an unlikely business move on the manufacturer's part.

We purchased the options back when nobody else wanted dirty turbo props... I think it was an initial 15 with options scheduled for the next few years. If we dont take the option as it comes due then it's open for bid/purchase.

Has the first ATR 72-600 even been delivered yet? / when would your company be able to take slots? Would UAL be interested in the 500? I also would wonder what mainline carriers take on the ATR in the NE/ mountains. I know it's a safe plane in icing, but incidents after the original Eagle crash have continued to be problomatic. Picking an airplane with a stigma like that for flying in winter climates might open the door for litigation should something happen. I'd say the same thing about the Q post 3407, but, that wasn't a result of the airplane.

I have no doubts that the Turbo Props are coming back, but, I don't think the game is wide open yet. Maybe in a few years once planes are being delivered on schedule without options being held for 3-6 roll outs. Couppled with the "colgan" rumors right now... who knows what's going to happen... Hopefully non of us car what regional gets the TP's in a few months anyways :)

Apparently Sapa and skywest management were at the table today negotiating a pay rate. Also it has been proven fact now that skywest submitted a bid for this rfp using 200 rates as the pay rates for the q400 even though the pilot group and sapa haven't negotiated a new pay rate yet.

Isn't part of the reason they came up with the name SureJet that they wanted to emphasize their all jet fleet? Doesn't seem like either company is all to eager to get back into the TP market.

Fixed it for you.

SKYWEST NEGOTIATIONS

Skywest Management- "We're willing to pay you current 200 rates,"

SAPA Prez to SAPA Secretary - "Tell the guys we negotiated 200 rates for them."
