United q400 RFP

. Plenty of bottom barrel crapholes like Colgan and Mesa prove without a doubt that a union is not the end all.

Colgan isn't a 'bottom barrel craphole' like you state today.

The reason it isn't is because of the union as well.......

Hey Seggy, as soon as I see the new payrates I'll shoot you a PM, but it sounds like we're going to be getting a raise and avoiding arbitration all together at QX for this round. Big thanks to you and the Colgan guys for getting your new contract with payrates that we could play off. I hope that you guys are able to play off us when you become amendable next round.

No problemo! Glad you didn't have to go to the baseball style arbitration this time around!

I think the company was more than willing not to go to arbitration (atleast this round, we have another in 2013). We had been assigned a labor friendly arbitrator, the company is making $$ hand over fist, not having a pay raise since our last contract (2001) and lastly, Colgan getting your contract with some really nice rates for the Q400 ()...the company was looking for any reason to no go into it.

We just found out yesterday we have a tentative agreement between Horizon and IBT, though we've not seen what the rates are.

Help me out with the math...as far as straight pay rates go, after year 1 there's not a single year when a Q400 CA makes as much as a CRJ200 CA at Skywest, let alone the 700/900. Unless you guys have some awesome soft time work rules that Skywest doesn't, I'm having a lot of difficulty with your claim.

You're totally missing the point. Every Skywest pilot here is acknowledging the shortcomings of not having a true union and CBA...but the perception that most of the outsiders have of how things work there is simply incorrect.

My June 15 (1/2 year) paystub gross taxable was 49,683. Friend that works there same year was sitting on similar schedules is behind by a bit. I'm not sure how the soft pay stacks up, but maybe 20 hrs open time, 1 extension... our colgan pilot group never would have gotten me close.

That's pretty impressive...that's averaging $8300 a month, which at 6yr Q400 pay at Colgan would be almost 130hr a month credit. The Q400 rates at Colgan are usually $2-3 lower than the CRJ200 rates at SKW (which is what management there apparently wants for the Q400). The work rules regarding soft time at SKW for lineholders are better than average, so I'm guessing that your friend is either 1) on reserve and not breaking guarantee or 2) just not working nearly as much as you. For comparison, I've got a friend on 6yr pay at SKW who is on reserve, averages 15 days a month at home but works the system (picks up open time, etc) and he was at over $60,000 for the first half of the year.

According to the SAPA secretary, the Q400 will be at SKW by this time next year. Still currently negotiating the rates.

you are flat wrong and know nothing of what you speak here...I can tell you first hand.

Sorry, I forgot the handshakes at the beginning and pats on the back at the end. Fine, you got me...maybe it wasn't a transcription of an actual meeting lol.

no...your concept is entirely wrong, but believe what you will... I personally know those people and was a SAPA rep for two years, so unless you were actually there you can't know the dedication that SAPA group has to the pilot group. Truly the system is hamstrung and there is no argument there, it is just your portrayal of the SAPA President is insulting and inaccurate and does no service to the truth.

I've been steady between 112 and 140 credit hours each month with 14-15 days off. This month at bid award was 15 days off, 100.12 credit, 81ish block. I didn't include check airman override, per diem, or my $39 dollar bonus (¿?]

By the end of the month I'm expecting 120ish credit.. more if I'm doing more ioe ( legs are blocked very tight, and at the vmo-10 restriction on ioe students we can't do it in block) I've got several pairing that end at 1130... if we pick up 2.5 hours delay its the " next day" = 8 hours additional pay

I dont get why everyone obsesses over an "RFP". I guarantee you every major is always looking at different fleet types at all times. I was hoping that United would cap large turboprops but it doesnt sound like they are even trying :cwm27:

And to the poster who said Colgan q's pay less than skywest crj's, there is a ton of soft money in our contract. For August I am crediting 102 hours on 78 hours of flying, without picking anything up. And on top of that come December 1, depending on what YOS you are, the Q captain pay rates get a 3-5 dollar raise all across the board. Come Dec 1st a 4th year Q captain will be within $1.61 of a skywest crj900 captain.

There are quite a few people who have been crediting well over 120 since the beginning of the year... I am finishing this month at 122 Credit with less than 50 Block.... I recently met an FO that claimed his high was 181 a few months back while on TDY and I believe it... If you read the contract, understand it, and can stand to lose a few days here or there you can hit 130-150 credit consistently as of right now.
