STS-135 - Final Atlantis Launch

I'm good with mexican/cuban...book it!

I'm planning on getting in on the 6th....Dale, we need to coordinate transportation since i may not have a car. I, of course, would chip in for gasahol & food/drinks. My plan is to hit the airport afterwards, go to Atlanta to visit some friends.

OK should we book for 8 at 1030?

If you plan an evening M&G somewhere I can get there by 6 for sure. I doubt I will be able to take the day off as I already took the whole next week off to go to Space Camp.

that's an idea i hadn't thought of! could be some serious fun!

is 10:30 when the restaurant opens? we're gonna have to get into town way earlier than that since launch is at 11:26am

I'm thinking we need to be in town by 6am or even earlier to try and beat the crap traffic.

Just booked my tickets! I arrive into Fort Lauderdale around 8:30PM on Thursday night, July 7th. I'll be renting a car and driving up towards Titusville. I'll probably find a cheap hotel just south of Titusville and get up early to drive into town.

Do we want to figure out a place to meet early on the morning of the 8th?

Sounds like anyplace on the waterfront between Route 50 on the south and Space View Park on the north is the place to watch.

Where do you fly into? I arrive in FLL Thursday evening around 8PM...I'm going to rent a car and drive to Titusville...probably end up sleeping in my car unless I can figure out a package deal that will get me good seats. Otherwise I'll be up early to get a good spot to view the launch. If you figure out any good ideas let me know. Also let me know what time you think you'll get into town and we can try to meet up.

Kristie any ideas when you'll be getting into the area on launch day?

Arrive in ORLANDO INTL (MCO) at 4:55 PM Wednesday...
We are staying in Orlando Weds through Friday
I will have a car, and am planning on giving Kristie a ride at this point. I have a buddy in the area, and he is planning on attending the launch as well. I am calling him today to find out was he has sussed out for us...

I did not order the tickets, there is a 0230 showtime...too early for the wifey.still trying to figure it out.
0230..as in AM??? sheesh....

Unfortunately, that's just not something i can afford right now...I think i saw $200 for one tix?

I'm planning on getting into MCO either Tues or Wed.

Did we want to do a M&G on Thurs night?

I arrive in FLL at 8:30'ish on Thursday night so not sure i would make a M&G in Orlando. I'm game to meet up for the launch Friday morning. I'll more than likely be in the area early! I have no real plans other than trying to find a good spot to view from. If anyone comes up with a better plan or place to watch lets try to coordinate and meet up.

If you do a fairly early M&G (5-6ish) in Orlando I could probably make that. I'll probably try to take the day off on Friday, but with the whole next week off it may be tricky.

I think that Friday evening after the launch would be best for the meet and greet...every on will be in town, and we won't be feeling the pressure to get up early the next morning (well we are, but it's to fly, so that's OK)

I couldn't find a hotel anywhere on the Space Coast so we'll be staying in Orlando. Probably precludes any kind of M&G for my family and I.

We have to meet the bus to the guest viewing area on Merritt Island at 7am. What time should I leave Orlando to get there considering potential traffic, etc?

It's normally about an hour (depending where in Orlando). You'll probably want to leave at least an extra hour for traffic.

I thought the M&G is going to be in Orlando, that's where most of us are staying!
