I would say he is on thin ice with another complaine, probably gone. At least that's my thought on it.

That's a completely unrealistic expectation of human behavior. A large portion (majority?) of the flight attendant workforce has now been not only insulted by this guy, but he stated "I hate all of them." To think that every one of those flight attendants who now flies with him won't allow it to affect their opinion of his leadership (even subconsciously) is fantasy. He is now weakened as a pilot in command, probably irreparably. Just expecting his coworkers to ignore what they know he thinks is ridiculous, and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of human behavior.

Dude, seriously, what is your deal..What expectation? I stated no expectations, some people can hack it in the face of an idiot and some may not be able to. What you quoted was a response to a question, not a statement of expectation, that was a monsterous manipulation of a comment that was not stated the way you reacted to it.....Stop mining my posts for something to criticize or disagree with just for the sake of disagreeing with me..You're being a transparent argument starter, go find someone else to quote, disagree with and badger..If you wanna post objectively and take my words at face value vs. interjecting deeply misinterpreted meaning tipped with subtle verbal venom there can be no further useful communication between you and I as if there ever has been as long as I've been posting here.

not from a professional..if the person (who hopefully has been counseled, disciplined or whatever) is back on line, and acts appropriately in the future, then a "professional" flight crew should be able to overcome their feelings about the person, and are asked to do so on a daily basis.

Sorry, Dale, but like I said, that's just not realistic. That's not how people react. It's certainly a wonderful thing to aspire to, and we all should, but in reality, it won't happen. At least not completely. On some level, all of his fellow employees will look at him differently from now on. That's just the way it is.

I'm not saying they won't have negative feelings about him, but that they should (and most will) be able to maintain a professional demeanor and work relationship with him. Those who don't or can't probably have issues with others as well.

I quote this only to say that if I were a SW pilot I would enjoy flying with... He may be an • and may be immature but I know he is not afraid to speak his mind. I enjoy conversations with people like that, even if our opinions are different it makes for interesting trips. Glad he was able to keep his job. I think that there will probably be people who lose respect for him but as I said before it was a bad stroke of luck for the guy. As for being a Captain as long as the Flight Attendants do what he says in an emergency situation who cares if they like the guy or not. If FOs have problems with the guy I could see problems arising but thats about it. Not saying the FAs aren't an important and intregal part of the flight crew, just saying that they aren't up in the cockpit with the guy for hours on end so if they don't like him they don't really have to deal with him.

As long as he does his job, it shouldn't matter. Can't like or please everyone. One day, in an emergency, all that matters is that he can put that plane safely on deck.

CAL guys have flown with CAL SCABS for years with no problems. I can't imagine that any flight crew would look at this guy worse than CAL people look at CAL SCABS. Maybe this is an unrealistic expectation of humanity though...unfortunately Mr. Weaksauce won't be able to see this and let me know so I'm not sure what to think.

By the way, people might wonder why I don't usually interact with the FAs. This is why. Piss one off, and you'll be tracked down by the mob.
 
This whole thing has become a joke. This should have maybe been in the news for one day or so, and then blown over. Why are we still talking about this? Why is the media still covering this? Hasn't he made amends with the company?

I hope he isn't somehow "forced" to resign due to pressure from a bunch of cabin crew now having tracked him down, attempting to make his life at work miserable.

I don't agree with what he said, but people seriously need to move the eff on.
 
THis pisses me off. Move the blank on folks... The guy has a right to his opinion, as all of us do! I almost wish I could go to this guys house and kick the poo out of the folks stalking him and giving him so much touble over this. Its just not right, I think it is far worse than what he said in the recording.
 
It sucks to be him right now but I did not think he was going to get off as easy as he did.

Its nice to believe as a pilot our only responsibility is to show up and fly the airplane but when flying people their is an element of customer service involved. As Captain he has the final authority of everything that occurs on the plane. If he "hates them all" unless he is banging them, there is a potential break down in the chain of command if there is an issue on the other side of the cockpit door. At least that's how I imagine the F/As and SWA sees it. I don't know much about the airline industry but what I do know about the airline industry culture is mostly based on jumpseating on SWA for many years now and some factor touted is teamwork, and a positive atmosphere. If he hates anyone not do-able he should have stuck to flying a fighter or gone to fly a freighter.

The public does not accept what it considers bad behavior from its public figures unless you are an artist. I thing the aviation industry is second only to politicians nowadays as far as being in the public eye. I have been in cockpits whose actions or conversations might have made it on CNN as well but we were smart enough to not have a stuck mike.

There's always the "hot salacious" story of the week and since Wiener's out of the picture, here's something else to focus on.

Sadly, it sells banner ad impressions on the news websites and is easy "OMG, have you seen/heard?" segment material on the evening news.
