Riding PSA to Florida this weekend

If it ain’t a Boeing, I’m not going. No choice.
My family and I will be flying 4 legs on PSA through CLT to MLB this weekend .

(insert obligatory snarky comments regarding backpacks, ipods, sunglasses indoors, low-time, entitlement, SJS, etc.)

I actually haven't seen too many ipod wearing, low-time, feeling entitled guys running around recently. Almost 3 years of sitting on the street waiting to get your job back kind of knocks that out of a person.

And besides, like I say to all my White Plains passengers that complain about the RJ or lack of service... if you were REALLY that important (or wealthy) you'd be chartering an airplane.

Side story... We brought a FlexJet guy in to Charlotte from somewhere yesterday and when I was standing saying good bye to people he asked me if we had a pack MELd. I told him we didn't and he said it was really hot in the back. I responded that it's just the way it is in the 200s and he went off on this long rant about how is job will always be secure because "airline" pilots always lie to their passengers because there is no way that a pack couldn't be MELd and it be that hot in the back and that he flies the Challenger so he knows better and I shouldn't try to BS him.

I then asked him how many times he's carried 50 people in his Challenger.

(zap... I'm just messing with you... nothing against the corporate side of the house)
 
The temp always seems hot when sitting in the back of a CRJ-200. That is just an extra element of discomfort in those things.

No offense taken Bob. Everyone knows that fractional and corporate aren't the same. Those fractional guys are the Mesa / Freedom of bizjets. ;-)

(I'm still jealous of the NetJets contract)

It's the same problem with everything on that plane. It was an aircraft that was designed to carry 5 to 9 people on one or two legs a day. Instead it is now carrying 50 people on 10 to 15 legs a day.
 
It's hot in the back because it's a hundred fricking degrees out. I DH'd RDU-CLT on a US Air 737 and I don't think the cabin dropped below 85F.

That being said, some packs are more worn out than others on our planes, some do a better job, some not as good.

To bad you didn't have a busted pack. Especially one doing the short legs. Then he would have something to complain about.
 
Well, if it was that hot he should have notified the flight attendant.

I flew ORD to SLC once on an MD-90 and a passenger gave me the old 'what for' about the temperatures in the back and how she sat in a FREEZING cabin for almost three hours.

"Did you notify the flight attendant that it was extremely cold in your area?"

"No, but..."

"Have a great day!"

I was at FIT Aviation last year on a trip. I will stop by campus when I get down there on Saturday though. Gotta get an FIT shirt for my kid to wear. Prove to my wife how there aren't any females on campus. She doesn't believe me.

I've got time in both a 604 and 200's and there is definitely no comparison in any aspect. The only thing that's the same is the cockpit layout.
